The Job at a Glance The Trade Compliance Specialist supports the organization’s global trade compliance activities by ensuring adherence to import/export regulations, maintaining documentation, and assisting with audits and internal controls. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals looking to grow their career in international trade, logistics, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the classification of goods using HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) codes
Support the preparation and submission of import/export documentation in compliance with U.S. and international regulations.
Monitor shipments to ensure timely customs clearance and resolve any issues with brokers or freight forwarders.
Maintain accurate records of trade compliance activities, including permits and declarations.
Help conduct internal audits and support corrective actions related to trade compliance.
Stay informed on changes in trade regulations and communicate relevant updates to internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with logistics, procurement, and legal teams to ensure compliance across the supply chain.
Assist in screening transactions against denied party lists and embargoed countries.
Participate in training sessions and contribute to the development of trade compliance procedures.
Qualifications
Remote!!! (8:00 AM–5:00 PM) EST (MUST reside in Georgia, Ohio, Texas, Indiana, Florida, New York)
Bachelor’s degree in international business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
0–2 years of experience in trade compliance, logistics, or international shipping preferred.
Basic understanding of import/export regulations (e.g., EAR, ITAR, Customs).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations and international trade agreements.
Experience with trade compliance software or denied party screening tools.
Multilingual capabilities are a plus.
