About the Position: The Rensselaer County Regional Chamber is looking for a Membership Sales & Marketing Manager. This position will report to the Vice President. The Membership Sales & Marketing Manager will play a vital role in soliciting membership for the Chamber by generating leads, developing prospects and relationships to close sales and convert prospects into new Chamber members. Additionally, the role will service existing members by ensuring they are benefiting from their membership and sell additional products and services. This position will also work with the marketing team supporting and executing marketing campaigns by reviewing and approving content for emails, social media, and website pages. This position requires a motivated individual with strong communication skills, 2+ years of sales experience, strong organization skills, attention to detail, a basic understanding of marketing principals, marketing analytics analysis, and the ability to grow and maintain relationships. The annual salary range for this position is $50,000.00 - $56,000.00 plus opportunities for commissions and performance-based bonuses and a generous benefits package.
Key Responsibilities & Core Duties:
Generate prospects for new members via online communications, travel, and/or event attendance.
Develop an ongoing list of prospects and maintain records for prospective/new Chamber members.
Set appointments, make presentations, and "close" the sale to meet monthly and annual goals.
Develop strategy to achieve annual new &renewal membership goals including retention visits for new and existing members.
Contact prospective members to explain benefits, cost of membership, events, etc.
Respond to membership calls regarding dues, inserts, labels, etc.
Inform and sell mailing labels/disks, energy program, banner ads, &other benefits to achieve yearly goals.
Craft reports on membership progress throughout the year.
Participate in the Chamber budget process.
Generate sales letters & materials as needed.
Update records and materials for sales as needed.
Coordinate and assist with the development of sales and marketing collateral.
Maintain files for annual update of new member application
Review and assist with the preparation of monthly membership report.
Public Engagement:
Perform as a representative of the Chamber and its interests.
Encourage members and prospects to attend Chamber events.
Lead and assist the Ambassador volunteer committee to contact existing members to update records and assist with retention goals.
Staff liaison to the Membership committee.
Contact members to collect past due payments and convince them to renew and/or to determine the reason they do not wish to renew.
Attend Chamber functions and activities, including breakfasts, mixers, dinners, etc.
Public speaking at select Chamber events.
Interact with and assist elected officials in their interactions with the Chamber.
Coordinate with businesses to craft Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies.
Management of member requests and questions.
Marketing:
Support and execute marketing campaigns.
Check and approve content for email, social media, and website.
Promote chamber events and initiatives.
Maintain brand consistency
Analyze marketing performance metrics.
Collaborate with staff and organizational partners.
Assist with the development of new products and services.
Liaison with the Energy Alliance, MagnetWorks, Endorphin Digital Marketing, and other Chamber partners as assigned.
Act as the staff liaison for our Membership Committee.
Support on site chamber events.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum: 2-year degree or equivalent experience in a 4-year degree track in marketing, sales, business, political science, communications, or related major.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sales, business, political science, communications, or related major.
2+ years of experience in marketing, sales, business, political science, communications or related position can substitute in place of degree completion.
Must be self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to close sales to meet monthly sales goals.
Ability to work as part of a small team in an efficient and effective manner.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
Must have daily access to a vehicle.
Must have flexibility for after-hours and weekends as needed.
Preferred Skills:
HubSpot Sales Certification is a plus.
Previous Chamber or related organization experience is a plus.
Previous work in community relations is a plus.
