Mortgage Underwriter – Multiple Openings
We are seeking experienced Mortgage Underwriters to support loan processing for broker clients. This role is critical in evaluating loan applications, ensuring compliance, and delivering high‑quality underwriting decisions. Ideal candidates are detail‑oriented professionals looking for a long‑term opportunity.
Responsibilities
Review and underwrite loan files for FHA, VA, and conventional products
Conduct detailed credit reviews and risk assessments
Underwrite 2–3 initial files daily and 6–8 final approval files (volume‑dependent)
Collaborate with loan structure and income teams to finalize approvals
Ensure all loans meet investor, federal, state, and agency guidelines
Review mortgage applications and supporting documentation for accuracy
Work with clients to resolve outstanding issues and prepare complete files
Approve or deny loans in a timely and compliant manner
Required Skills
3+ years of mortgage underwriting experience
Strong knowledge of FHA, HUD, VA, VA IRRRL, VA SAR, and TrumpsID Registration
Proficiency with automated underwriting systems
Understanding of mortgage regulations, including HMDA
Experience with Encompass and Excel preferred
Must meet minimum assessment score requirements
Loss mitigation or servicing underwriting backgrounds are not eligible
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $31.25/hr.
