About the Role This position is designed for a US-native professional with a background in a Top 10 Mid-Tier CPA firm (e.g., RSM, BDO, Grant Thornton). The role focuses on leading onsite audit engagements for Houston’s dynamic middle‑market sectors, utilizing the CCH ProSystem fx Engagement suite to deliver high-quality, risk-based audits.
Responsibilities
Digital File Set-up: Lead the initial engagement set-up in CCH ProSystem fx Engagement, including the roll-forward of prior year files and trial balance imports.
Risk Assessment: Utilize CCH Knowledge Coach to perform risk-based planning, identifying significant accounts and assertions that require specialized testing.
Budgeting: Establish onsite milestones and time budgets for the engagement team, ensuring the project remains profitable and on schedule.
Onsite Fieldwork & Technical Execution
Lead Onsite Interactions: Act as the primary face of the firm at the client’s Houston office. Conduct in-person walkthroughs and inquiries to evaluate internal controls.
Advanced Testing: Execute complex audit procedures in CCH (e.g., revenue recognition under ASC 606, complex debt, and leases) and perform physical inventory observations at Houston-area warehouses/plants.
Real-time Review: Conduct "shoulder-to-shoulder" reviews of staff workpapers within the CCH binder. Ensure all tickmarks, hyperlinks, and cross-references are technically sound before leaving the field.
Trial Balance Management: Finalize the trial balance and all adjusting journal entries (AJEs) within CCH.
Financial Statement Preparation: Use CCH’s automated linking features to draft/review financial statements and disclosures, ensuring 100% accuracy between the workpapers and the report.
Closing Procedures: Ensure the engagement binder is cleared of all "Review Notes" and "To-Do" items, readying the file for Partner sign-off and archival.
Qualifications
Origin/Culture : Born and raised in the USA. Must possess native-level English fluency and a natural command of US corporate etiquette and professional standards.
Experience : 3–5 years of public accounting experience. Must come from a Top 10 CPA firm.
Technical Software : Power-user of CCH ProSystem fx Engagement. Experience with Knowledge Coach is highly preferred. Advanced MS Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables).
Education : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting from a US-accredited university.
Licensure : Active CPA license (State of Texas) or immediate eligibility for reciprocity.
Physical Mobility May require to travel to clients.
