Job Description
Overview This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations. Primary responsibilities include the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families, including one-on-one counseling, consultations with leaders or other providers, briefings and presentations, and providing referral resources outside the counseling session context. The counselor works with installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure the program operates within scope and meets installation needs.

Responsibilities
Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
Develop and distribute informational financial materials to service members and families.
Coordinate, publicize, and deliver a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops (e.g., topics across the military lifecycle such as arrival at a first duty station, pre- and post-deployment) as outlined in DoDI 1322.34.
Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes (web-based, secure online chat, video-based communications, secure video teleconference) as applicable; virtual PFC support may be authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
Manage duty-to-warn situations according to DoD protocol.
Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trends and issues relevant to assigned installations.
Participate in regular in-services/training and other contract activities as assigned.
All other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. May consider an associate degree plus 4 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree; or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
3+ years of financial counseling experience.
Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English; if required by the contract, bilingual in English and Spanish.
Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
One of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary Range: $58,440 – $93,500 (base), with location and qualifications impacting actual pay. Minimums and maximums may vary by location; actual pay determined by skills, experience, education, and other factors.
Additional compensation may include short-term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package (health, life, voluntary benefits, and more).
