NOTE: This is a field position and will require travel. When not travelling, this role is hybrid and requires 3 days a week onsite in our Walnut Creek office.
The
Executive Protection Agent
is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of AAA Mountain West Group’s executive leadership team, their families (as applicable), employees and designated personnel. This role includes planning, coordinating, and executing protective strategies while maintaining hypervigilance in dynamic environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional judgment, professionalism, and discretion at all times. All duties are to be performed in accordance with federal, state and local laws, as well as all AAA MWG policies, practices and procedures.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
Protective Operations
Provide close protection for executives and designated personnel during travel at public and private events and in day-to-day environments.
Conduct in-depth risk assessments, route planning, site advances, and venue security assessments in order to identify potential threats.
Monitor for and assess threats, utilizing surveillance detection and situational awareness techniques.
Utilize protective strategies and de-escalation techniques to identify, manage and mitigate potential threats.
Operate company vehicles in a secure, defensive, and professional manner while transporting principals.
Assist the Threat Assessment Team with protective deployments for various internal threats. (e.g. workplace violence, hostile terminations, domestic violence)
Planning and Coordination
Ensure the seamless integration of executive protection with travel logistics, internal communications, and local law enforcement support when needed.
Develop and maintain detailed operational plans and contingency protocols.
Assist in the scheduling and management of protection details including travel logistics, lodging, vendor relations and communications.
Maintain communication with the Executive Protection Manager and relevant leadership during operations.
Threat Assessment & Intelligence
Stay informed and up to date on current regional and national threats or trends relevant to the principal(s) and their travels.
Support threat assessment efforts in collaboration with the Threat Assessment and Physical Security teams.
Collect, document, and report suspicious activities or intelligence concerns.
Training and Readiness
Participate in regular training for defensive tactics, medical emergency response, surveillance detection and firearms.
Maintain necessary certifications in addition to a high level of physical fitness and mental fortitude.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold a high standard of discretion and trust.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Excellent judgment and decision‑making under pressure.
Ability to make sound, thoughtful decisions autonomously in the absence of the EP Manager or other leadership.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism.
Technical proficiency with communications tools, GPS/navigation, and threat monitoring software.
Ability to travel frequently, work irregular hours, weekends, and be on‑call as needed.
Education, Competencies, Certifications/Licenses
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
5 years of experience in executive protection in a large corporate environment or government dignitary protection. OR a combination of executive protection, law enforcement dignitary protection or military PSD. Or Prior roles having emphasis on close protection necessary.
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
First Aid/CPR/AED certification
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Previous experience supporting C‑suite or high‑profile individuals preferred.
Working Environment / Minimum Physical Requirements Work is done 100% in the field.
We target between minimum and midpoint of the range, and all offers are subject to a fair pay analysis – Compensation Range: Min: $110,387.00 - Mid: $137,983.00- Max: $165,580.00
