Staff AI Product Designer
Samsung Research America (SRA), New York, NY, United States
Global UX Studio Summary
Based in New York, Samsung’s Global UX Studio is an independent design and research studio that senses, explores and invents human-centered experiences, and future product experiences, looking 3 to 5 years out.
Position Summary As a Staff AI Product Designer, you will drive end-to-end UX concept development across the studio's most forward‑looking initiatives. Working closely with studio conversational (Content) designers, creative technologists, and researchers, you'll shape the future of Samsung's Galaxy ecosystem.
You're a systems thinker and hands‑on inventor who moves fluidly between near‑term design craft and long‑horizon strategy. You'll report to the Sr. Design Director and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team that includes Creative Technologists, Researchers, and AI.
Position Responsibilities
Lead UX concept development for Generative Design System investigations — including adaptive UI surfaces, tokenized design patterns, and machine‑readable component architectures for AI composition
Define and prototype Agentic OS interaction models — including intent‑based navigation, multi‑agent task orchestration, and dynamic layout systems that replace traditional app grid paradigms
Translate complex AI system behaviors into clear, human‑centered interaction flows, scenarios, and design frameworks
Develop strategy documents, user flows, wireframes, and high‑fidelity concept visions that communicate direction to both design peers and executive leadership
Contribute to JTBD analysis, opportunity mapping, and product roadmap decisions
Required Skills
Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or equivalent required. Master’s or PhD preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
10+ years of UX, Interaction Design, or HCI experience, with at least 3 years focused on emerging or AI‑powered product experiences
Design for AI and Emerging Systems
Demonstrated experience designing for agentic or AI‑native interfaces — including proactive systems, multi‑step task flows, or autonomous agent UX
Fluency with generative UI principles, hands‑on knowledge of design system tokenization, understanding of LLM / AI model behavior and agentic system design patterns — orchestration layers, delegation models, agent handoff, and user control/override mechanisms
Experience designing multimodal interactions — voice, gesture, visual, or ambient input/output across device types
UX Craft
Strong command of OS‑level or system UX design — navigation models, information architecture, cross‑surface continuity
Experience working within or alongside a scaled design system, including contributing patterns, interaction specs, or component logic
Ability to create compelling concept visions — from rough scenario sketches to polished, leadership‑ready artifacts
Soft Skills
Systems thinker who can hold both the 10,000‑ft strategic vision and the 1‑ft craft detail simultaneously
Strong communicator who can distill complex AI concepts into clear, compelling narratives for executive and cross‑functional audiences
Intellectually curious with a genuine interest in how AI will reshape human behavior, not just interface patterns
Base Pay Range $192,300 - $264,550 USD
