The four cornerstones of Resident Services programming are Education, Economic Mobility, Health & Wellness, and Community Engagement.
Position Summary AHC is proud to continue its long-standing education programs at Gates of Ballston (GOB), one of our largest and most vibrant communities in Arlington, Virginia. GOB is a diverse, garden-style community with over 400 apartment homes and a centrally located community center that serves as a hub for learning, support, and opportunity. We are seeking a passionate and driven Resident Engagement Specialist in Education to lead our K–12 afterschool programs, support academic success, and engage families through educational workshops and events. In this role, you will collaborate with AHC’s social services team and local partners to ensure students and families have access to the resources they need to thrive. This is a full-time, salaried position (40 hours/week), with a typical schedule of 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM to align with afterschool and evening programming.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee afterschool and teen tutoring programs for 20-25 children and 20 teens, respectively
Coordinate parent workshops for 5-20 parents and adult workshops for 10-50 adults
Plan and execute community-building events for 50-100 residents
Implement high-quality programming with a focus on educational and social services
Connect residents with community resources and support services
Design and facilitate differentiated learning goals
Establish classroom management strategies based on trauma-informed practices
Build relationships with local schools, libraries, and non-profits
Qualifications
Experience in child development and program management
Cross-cultural competency
Flexibility to work evenings and occasional weekends
Working at AHC The Resident Services Team may work remotely on Fridays. Flexibility is required to meet programming needs outside normal business hours.
