Purchasing Specialist
Responsible for assisting in the procurement of maintenance, repair, and operating (M.R.O.) supplies, machine components, capital expenditures, service contracts, tool fabrication, chemicals, office supplies, and selected direct material items. Resolve pricing and quantity discrepancies with suppliers on mismatched invoices and receivers in assigned area of responsibility. Provides clerical support for the Purchasing Department, including filing, vendor follow up/expediting, and record keeping. Obtains prices and quotations covering specific needs or requests from various supporting departments. Corresponds with and handles communication from suppliers within assigned area of responsibility. Conducts sourcing procedures relative to locating better products and/or services required. Works with Inventory Control on specific stockroom programs and/or problems. Works with supervisory personnel to ensure that budgets are maintained. Attends relevant seminars and/or trade shows to keep up to date on current trends in the procurement field. Regular attendance, communication and meeting committed deadlines are all essential elements of the job.
