Business Analyst- Commercial Lending

Summary Of Role The Business Analyst – Commercial Lending serves as a key liaison between commercial lending, credit administration, operations, and technology teams. This role is responsible for analyzing business processes, identifying operational improvements, and supporting the implementation of systems, reporting, and workflow enhancements that improve the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of the commercial lending function.

The Business Analyst will work closely with Commercial Banking leadership, Credit, Risk, and Operations to ensure lending processes, data, and reporting support sound credit decision-making, regulatory compliance, and a strong client experience.

Major Duties and Responsibilities Analyze and document commercial lending workflows, including loan origination, underwriting, approval, booking, servicing, and portfolio monitoring. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and process standardization within commercial lending operations. Partners with lenders, credit analysts, and loan operations teams to streamline documentation, approval processes, and loan servicing workflows. Assist in developing process documentation, workflow maps, and procedural guides for commercial lending activities. Serve as a subject matter liaison for commercial lending systems including Loan Origination Systems (LOS), credit platforms, document management systems, and core banking platforms. Support system implementations, enhancements, and upgrades related to commercial lending platforms. Translate business needs into technical requirements and system specifications. Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and system validation for lending-related technology initiatives. Develop and maintain reporting and dashboards related to: Commercial loan pipeline Portfolio performance Credit quality metrics Loan production trends Support data analysis that assists leadership in monitoring portfolio risk, loan growth, and operational performance. Ensure data accuracy and integrity across commercial lending systems and reports. Assist with ensuring commercial lending processes align with regulatory expectations and internal risk management standards. Support documentation and reporting required for credit administration, internal audit, and regulatory examinations. Work with Risk and Compliance teams to enhance monitoring and reporting related to commercial lending activities. Participate in cross-functional projects related to commercial lending strategy, digital transformation, and operational improvement initiatives. Support implementation of new products, services, or lending technologies. Assist leadership in evaluating business impacts of process changes and technology implementations. Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Knowledge & Skills Experience Seven plus years of banking, or financial sales experience

Education/Certifications/Licenses Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Management, Information Systems, Banking or related field.

Interpersonal Skills A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.

ADA Requirements Physical Requirements Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

Working Conditions Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising the highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
