Your New Role CNN is looking for an experienced journalist with sharp editorial judgment and a passion for covering political campaigns and elections. The editor should be a willing collaborator who demonstrates confidence in guiding reporters through the storytelling process, often under deadline pressure. This editor must be able to own all dimensions of news gathering assignments across platforms, including formulating story ideas, vetting reporting and editing copy for digital, video and linear television. Your Role Accountabilities Provide editorial management of breaking political news stories with sharp judgment and decisiveness, including serving as a frontline editor of internal alerts, digital stories and headlines, television banners and social language. Alongside leaders of CNN’s Political Unit, direct reporting, gathering of elements and clearing of information across editorial platforms. Work with reporters and producers to ensure reporting is fair and complete and that stories are written in a clear and engaging way. Identify compelling video moments that will shape the campaign conversation for use across platforms. Develop creative and innovative approaches to political news coverage through visual storytelling across all platforms. Pivot quickly from one assignment to another as priorities shift while juggling multiple stories at a time. Monitor the competitive landscape with a keen eye for distinctive reporting opportunities. Communicate clearly and smoothly with colleagues, ensuring editorial lands in a coordinated way across platforms. Qualifications & Experience The successful candidate for this position will have 3 to 5 years of experience in a news environment at a national-level operation, preferably working across multiple platforms. Exceptional editorial acumen and ability to interpret complex editorial issues. A passion for political storytelling and understanding of key editorial storylines driving campaigns and elections. Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills across multiple platforms including digital text, video and linear television. Ability to work in a fast-paced news environment 24 hours / 365 days a year. Degree in Journalism or equivalent work experience preferred. Championing Inclusion at WBD Warner Bros. Compensation and Benefits In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $85,680.00 - $159,120.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros.
