VP of Sales

Our VP of Sales is a true player/coach role. This individual will be responsible for developing effective sales strategies and implementing strategic sales plans and forecasts to achieve company goals and objectives. In addition, our VP of Sales will be responsible for overseeing the sales team, meeting with customers, and assisting our sales team with managing relationships, goals, and overall performance.

Strategic Planning & Execution

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead an established wholesale business with momentum and clear growth targets.
  • Personally sell while coaching and developing a team of experienced reps.
  • Understand and own every aspect of the company's sales performance; drive execution and hold the team accountable for both individual and team results.
  • Implement and manage CRM, including daily data entry, reporting, and data analysis on daily/weekly basis; share information with senior leadership as necessary.
  • Develop key growth sales strategies, tactics and action plans; execute successfully and measure success.
  • Grow District sales through market analysis and identification of growth opportunities.
  • Achieve as close to 100% full absorption of production on a rolling basis.
  • Drive consistent outreach, account growth, and SKU penetration.
  • Bring pricing, program, and strategy ideas to leadership.
  • Effectively communicate our value proposition through proposals and presentations.
  • Report on forces that shift tactical budgets and strategic direction of accounts.
  • Partner with Marketing on regional communications and customer outreach efforts across platforms such as email, social media, point of purchase.
  • Invite every encounter as an opportunity to promote the brand mission and serve as a solution provider to partners. Ensure the product feedback loop is being closed cross departmentally.
  • Effectively manage priorities and using strong time management skills.
  • Develop and implement annual department budget with Senior Leadership.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the competition, demonstrate a working knowledge of internal operations, and maintain awareness and application of all current sales techniques and practices.
  • Review current marketing trends and advertisements to determine the effectiveness of different styles and strategies.

Team Leadership & Performance Analytics

  • Provide daily leadership and coaching to a team selling across MD/DC.
  • Improve rep productivity, consistency, and accountability.
  • Lead by example, in the market and with the team.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Human Resources Department and appropriate partners to implement and manage the company's policies and procedures.
  • Partner with the Human Resources Department to monitor staff performance, provide timely feedback, along with development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and conduct annual performance evaluations.
  • Retain and develop top performers by understanding individual's motivations and providing actionable feedback.
  • Addresses low performance quickly, compassionately, and in alignment with company policies.
  • Manage employee's scheduling, basic time off requests, performance reviews, etc.

All other duties as necessary.

Qualifications we ask you to have:

  • For legal reasons, all employees need to be at least 21 years of age.
  • You will be asked to pass a Federal and State criminal history background check.
  • We ask that you have a Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or a similar field
  • We ask that you have a minimum of ten (10) years of wholesale experience
  • We ask that you have a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a sales executive, sales manager or sales and marketing director
  • We prefer that you have proven sales executive experience, meeting or exceeding targets
  • We prefer that you have proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
  • We prefer that you have proven ability to articulate the distinct aspects of products and services
  • We prefer that you have proven ability to position products against competitors
  • Willingness to be in market and travel between DC and Maryland.
