Director, Kendall Square Site Affairs / Scientific Portfolio Operations Support Location:

United States - Massachusetts - Cambridge

The Kendall Square (KSQ) Site Affairs Lead will coordinate strategy and implementation for colleague engagement, site operations, external outreach, and internal communications. Reporting to the Head of Scientific Operations in Preclinical and Translational Sciences (P&TS), the role works closely with the KSQ Site Head, GWE, and EHS to ensure Pfizer-Kendall Square remains a preeminent research facility, attracts and retains top talent, and supports a culture aligned with corporate values. The incumbent will oversee day‑to‑day operations, serve as the main point of contact for all KSQ functions, and build strong relationships with leaders and colleagues across the site.

The role also provides operational and project support in Scientific Operations to the Head of Scientific Operations, leading or supporting specific projects in portfolio and resource management and planning.

Hybrid Work Requirement This is a hybrid role requiring on‑site presence approximately 2.5 days per week or more as needed, with remote work as permitted.

Compensation and Benefits Base salary range: $176,600 – $294,300. Eligibility for Pfizer Global Performance Plan (bonus target 20% of base) and share‑based long‑term incentive program. Comprehensive benefits include 401(k) with matching, paid vacation, holidays, personal days, caregiver/parental leave, medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and additional resources.

Role Responsibilities

Colleague Engagement

Lead the Site Affairs team using business and scientific expertise.

Enable delivery of the R&D portfolio through site scientists and staff.

Develop and implement the KSQ colleague engagement strategy in partnership with leadership.

Foster a culture where every colleague feels valued and contributes to portfolio goals.

Coordinate internal events with Pfizer ELT, R&D LT, and executive visits.

Collaborate with other R&D and PGS Site Affairs leads to identify synergies.

Manage KSQ internal communications.

External Partnerships and Outreach

Host external visitors and provide tours of the Cambridge site.

Partner with Pfizer Corporate Government Affairs on legislative engagement.

Represent Pfizer in Boston‑area industry and trade organizations.

Establish volunteer engagement program for campus staff.

Site Operations

Oversee KSQ R&D site operations with GWE Site Lead.

Maintain a state‑of‑the‑art R&D environment.

Serve as primary point of contact for site issue resolution.

Advocate for staff resources and facilities across enabling functions.

Prioritize site facility and enhancement projects.

Co‑lead KSQ Crisis Management & Business Continuity team.

Represent R&D in real estate decisions and long‑term strategies.

Manage the KSQ Site Affairs budget.

Scientific Operations Support

Lead, support, or participate in designated Scientific Operations projects including portfolio analysis, financial resource management, and external stakeholder engagement.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years, Master’s with 7+ years, or PhD with 5+ years relevant experience.

Budget management experience.

Track record establishing and managing external partnerships.

Experience developing and executing communications strategies.

Strong strategic thinker and implementer.

Experience in portfolio, financial and business planning, operations, and resource management.

Ability to supervise and develop a team.

Relationship builder with influence‑based management style.

High energy, maturity, and collaborative leadership.

Self‑starter, entrepreneurial, and initiative‑driven.

Capability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
