Summary As a primary contact for bank customers, the Senior Personal Banker is responsible for developing and retaining customer relationships through providing a consistent level of exceptional service. The role involves opening and maintaining new business and consumer accounts, responding to customer inquiries, and providing solutions based on their needs. The incumbent proactively works to build long‑standing relationships, greeting, listening, engaging, and actively profiling to determine customer needs before presenting mutually beneficial financial solutions. The Senior Personal Banker maintains high quality personal performance and professional standards, and actively requests support and training as needed. The position assists the Branch Manager with oversight of Personal Bankers and New Account Representatives and serves as backup if the Assistant Branch Manager is absent.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist and support the Branch Manager with hiring decisions, training, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and coaching/mentoring of personal bankers and new account representatives.
Assume oversight of the branch in the event of both Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager absence.
Originate consumer loans for the branch as assigned by the Consumer Loan Department Manager.
Open, maintain, or originate consumer and business deposit, savings, health, time deposit accounts, IRAs, foreign/domestic wires, safe deposit boxes, and e‑banking products efficiently.
Promote and assist customers with various aspects of the Visa Business Card.
Prepare associated documentation and scan for record‑retention purposes within required time frames.
Educate customers regarding penalties, earnings, and related financial information.
Display exceptional customer service skills to gain, retain, and maintain customer relationships.
Primarily responsible for developing and retaining customer relationships.
Play an integral role in bank growth by meeting customers’ needs while maintaining profitability and proactively finding opportunities to enhance customer relationships.
Identify customer needs through active listening and profiling and fulfill their needs with appropriate products and services.
Act promptly on customer requests, follow through on commitments and obligations, and ask follow‑up questions to confirm satisfaction.
Process ACH and debit card disputes, stop payments, and other related tasks, escalating as necessary.
May act as Teller when needed; maintain up‑to‑date training and compliance standards.
Maintain proficient knowledge of bank products and services to effectively present the appropriate solutions to customers.
Answer incoming calls, direct calls, take messages, and return calls.
Complete bank training in a timely manner.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance, an essential function of this job.
Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
May be required to work at other Foothills Bank branches due to staffing shortages.
Participate in community service and bank‑sponsored activities.
About You Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
3+ years of banking experience.
Knowledge, Skill, Ability
Demonstrated effective interpersonal relationships and teamwork.
Advanced account opening and maintenance skills.
Familiarity with consumer lending.
Ability to lead in a positive manner with a focus on others.
Work Environment Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate‑controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.
