Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing property management company. This role is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, and supporting strategic financial planning for the organization.
The Senior Accountant will manage core accounting functions including cash flow projections, financial reporting, balance sheet management, and bank reconciliations. Experience in real estate or property management accounting is highly preferred.
This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple entities and properties in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
Perform monthly bank reconciliations
Oversee and support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Ensure accurate recording of all accounting transactions
Assist with year‑end closing and external audits
Cash Management & Forecasting
Develop and maintain cash flow projections
Monitor property and company level cash balances
Provide financial insights to leadership regarding cash position and capital needs
Assist with budgeting and financial forecasting
Property Management Accounting
Maintain financial records for multiple properties and entities
Review property operating statements and variance reports
Assist with lease accounting, CAM reconciliations, and tenant charges
Ensure proper accounting for property expenses, reserves, and capital projects
Supervise and mentor two accounting team members
Review staff work for accuracy and compliance
Provide guidance on accounting processes and improvements
Assist with training and performance development
Compliance & Process Improvement
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial controls
Maintain accurate financial documentation and records
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency
Support management with financial analysis and reporting
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of accounting experience
Experience with general ledger accounting and financial reporting
Strong proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations
Experience with cash flow forecasting
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Preferred
Experience in property management or real estate accounting
Experience with property management software (Entrata preferably.)
Prior team leadership or supervisory experience
CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Physical Demands
Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and move throughout the community
Ability to tour apartments and community amenities, including climbing stairs
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 25 pounds (e.g., marketing materials, signage, supplies)
Frequent use of computers, phones, and office equipment
Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and stoop as necessary
Visual and auditory ability to interact with residents, prospects, and staff
