Position Summary The Director, Health Equity reports directly to the SVP, Pediatric Health Equity Strategies and Chief Health Equity Officer (CHEO) and serves as a strategic and operational partner in advancing enterprise-wide health equity, inclusion, and research initiatives. In collaboration with the SVP/CHEO, this role supports the development, implementation, and oversight of programs, initiatives, and research efforts, including associated budgets.

The Director is responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the Office of Health Equity & Inclusion, coordinating multidisciplinary efforts across clinical, academic, and administrative leaders, and ensuring alignment of health equity strategies across departments and divisions. The role also supports fostering an inclusive organizational culture and advancing equitable care for diverse patient populations and their families. Regular communication with the SVP/CHEO is required to report on progress, risks, and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with the SVP/CHEO to assess, align, and advance enterprise-wide health equity initiatives, programs, and research

Lead day-to-day planning, implementation, prioritization, and oversight of Office of Health Equity & Inclusion goals and operations

Develop and manage program budgets, including financial planning, tracking, and resource allocation

Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary committees, task forces, and working groups involving senior leaders and stakeholders

Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Legal, Patient Safety & Quality, HR, GME, Faculty Development, Marketing) to advance health equity goals and regulatory compliance (e.g., Joint Commission)

Organize and facilitate key governance and advisory groups, including Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, (EDI) Faculty Advisors, Research Review Committee, and EDI Liaisons

Oversee program/project management processes, including timelines, risk mitigation, and change management

Conduct needs assessments and implement performance metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and impact

Develop and oversee educational programming, workshops, and materials supporting health equity initiatives

Contribute to and support health equity research and academic scholarship

Support recruitment and pipeline initiatives, including residency programs and career pathway programs (e.g., student and trainee initiatives)

Lead or support initiatives addressing health-related social needs (HRSN), including participation in strategy working groups

Represent the organization in external forums, collaboratives, and professional organizations related to health equity

Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing work environment aligned with organizational values

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration or related field required; Master’s degree preferred

Minimum of 8 years of experience in health administration or related field

Strong knowledge of program management processes, best practices, and healthcare systems

Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and team-building skills

Ability to manage complex, enterprise-wide initiatives and prioritize multiple competing demands

Strong relationship management skills in a complex and evolving environment

Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities with cross-functional expertise

Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills

Strong interpersonal skills with cultural sensitivity and ability to navigate sensitive clinical and organizational dynamics

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency in data and systems tools, including databases, spreadsheets, and presentation software
