Position Summary
We are seeking a talented and passionate
Senior Director, Technical Program Management
to join our team. In this role you will report to the VP of Tech Strategy, Portfolio, Operations and Technical Program Management and join a diverse team who are devoted to meeting the evolving needs of our millions of customers and associates.
About Team Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in‑store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.
What you’ll do
Manage a large portfolio of multiple highly complex projects by driving projects through the lifecycle phases to successful completion as defined in the project charter; serve as the program lead for multiple projects; develop and maintain a project schedule to track milestones; develop and execute plans for managing risk; escalate project‑related issues to management in accordance with project guidelines and requirements; manage project change control processes; coordinate production issue resolution; interpret data to help guide teams towards issue resolution and risk management; make recommendations regarding solutions to problems or issues; and present project status updates to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
Demonstrate up‑to‑date expertise and apply it to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; support and align efforts to meet customer and business needs; and build commitment for perspectives and rationales.
Provide and support the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identify business needs; determine and carry out necessary processes and practices; monitor progress and results; recognize and capitalize on improvement opportunities; and adapt to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.
Model compliance with company policies and procedures and support company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; and demonstrate and assist others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.
Act as an altruistic servant leader and are consistently humble, self‑aware, honest, and transparent.
Create the program structure and share alignment with the program team across Walmart on vision, business goals, program, and secure cross‑functional teams dependencies’ commitment.
Lead executive committee meetings with key stakeholders to help make key decisions, remove obstacles, and address key program issues.
Provide on‑going visibility to program status (key decisions, dependencies, issues, risks, metrics, etc.) to all stakeholders.
Anticipate and aggressively remove obstacles that slow down or prevent program teams from delivering program outcomes.
Manage new and existing technologies integration.
Create a collaborative team environment that fosters creativity, speed, innovation, and learning.
Be a thought leader who can help accelerate delivery capabilities and challenge others to change.
What you’ll bring
Extensive experience in the design, development and delivery of software products with a massive customer base.
Strong track record in a senior architecture or program management role with large‑scale software development projects.
A clear vision for architecture design and great communication skills to articulate that to all levels of stakeholders.
Excellent decision‑making skills with the ability to balance conflicting interests in a complex and fast‑paced environment.
Thorough understanding of distributed technologies, public cloud technologies, and data structures and algorithms.
Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
Business acumen; combining technical vision with business insights.
Advanced degree in Computer Science or related discipline.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 8 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.

Preferred Qualifications
Certification in Project Management.
Master’s degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 6 years’ experience in product design.
Supervisory experience.
Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
Knowledge of accessibility best practices and ability to contribute to Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.
