The Junior Design Engineer is a foundational, entry level role at Design Galleria. Individuals in this position work under the guidance of the Lead Designer and in collaboration with the Design Engineer supporting the technical development of projects.

Responsibilities include assisting with design development, cabinetry engineering and planning, and contributing to aspects of project coordination and execution. This role is structured to provide hands on experience while building the skills necessary for increased responsibility over time, with a clear path for growth within the team.

SKILLS

Skilled at translating hand-drawings and/or conceptual sketches into floor plans and elevations

Working experience in the development of mechanical drawings for plumbing, electrical, and lighting components

Capable of using typical Microsoft Office products for PC’s (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Very organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Experienced with design with a fundamental understanding of the design process

Ethical and professional in manner, attitude and dress

Self-motivated and able to work independently

Able to meet schedule deadlines and work at a fast pace

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ·Under the guidance of the Lead Designer, support the development of cabinetry designs and related products based on designer supplied concepts, ensuring all relevant technical information is incorporated.

·Prepare initial project estimates based on designer provided layouts and concepts, including:

oCabinetry

oAssociated components

oDelivery

oFull training will be provided on pricing systems, as well as a foundational understanding of cabinetry construction and cost components.

·Complete development of projects in CAD

oField measure

oElevations

oDetails, sections

oMEP, RCP, Framing

oComplete and accurate dimensions

·Accurate and thorough engineering of all projects for proper function

oAppliances

·Updated, final drawings

oAdjusted to any subsequent field measures, etc.

·Updated / final cabinetry pricing

oOptions for these same items as needed by the project designer

·Pricing on non-cabinetry items as needed for complete project pricing

·Complete details on all cabinets as needed to order cabinets properly

·Complete details on all non-cabinetry items as needed to order those items properly

·Order project samples as needed for presentations / client approval

·Under the guidance of the Design Engineer develop and submit final cabinet orders to cabinet shop(s)

oClear, clean orders with all appropriate notes, dimensions, etc.

oDG drawings numbered to match the cabinet order

oSubmission of approved samples as needed/required by the cabinet shop

·Manage receipt of shop drawings / sign off on shop drawings in a timely manner

oDesigner should review all shop drawings as well to ensure all items orders reflect the design intent and client needs

·Coordination of cabinetry shipment to the warehouse or jobsite

·Under the guidance of the Design Engineer development of a complete installation package for the cabinet installer

oDG drawings numbered to match the shop drawings

oCabinet shop drawings

oAppliance specifications

oInstallation cost with associated drawings

·Assist with oversight of project installation to ensure successful install that is consistent with the design intent

oAnswer installer questions and involving the project designer as needed

·Assist with all work necessary to complete a project in a timely manner including:

oOrdering of cabinetry parts needed to complete the project (should be approved by the project designer)

oOrdering of any non-cabinetry parts (that could not be ordered until cabinets arrived)

oScheduling return trips for install

oScheduling a finisher for cabinetry touch-ups

· The Lead designer should be involved with and approve any project activities that involve an added cost or expense above and beyond the final estimate.

·Develop and maintain a door style and finish schedule per project

·Develop and maintain an appliance schedule per project

·Ensure drawings reflect final plumbing selections

·Project site visits for field measurements, project check-ins, install check-ins, etc. as determined by the project designer

·Assisting Lead Designer on office tasks as needed

·Attend to the showroom floor to greet clients and schedule appointments on behalf of the Lead Designer when not available

Hours ·Work schedule is 9am to 5pm to align with the showroom hours.

·Full-time salary employees have a forty-five minute lunch break.
