Assistant Director, Student Success
– Osceola Campus
Valencia College is seeking a dynamic, student‑centered leader to support the success of our student population. The Assistant Director will train, manage, and evaluate Student Success Coaches while partnering with college‑wide leadership to ensure effective, consistent, and innovative coaching practices.
The role goes beyond day‑to‑day management; it requires a leader who can mentor and develop team members, foster a culture of growth, and demonstrate a genuine commitment to staff development. You will be an engaged, visible leader who collaborates, shares best practices, and provides hands‑on support to both staff and students.
Key Responsibilities
Hire, train, supervise, and develop assigned Student Success Coaches.
Distribute workload effectively and evaluate staff performance.
Collaborate with the Student Success Leadership Team to implement and uphold standard operating procedures across all campuses.
Assess coaching effectiveness using tools, technologies, and data dashboards.
Train staff on coaching technologies and data‑driven decision‑making.
Ensure comprehensive coaching support through individual, group, and online sessions.
Support strategic initiatives that improve student engagement, persistence, graduation, and transfer readiness.
Develop new student onboarding programs and activities while managing schedules for training and coverage.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Strong background in higher education, with experience in student affairs, academic advising, or coaching, and knowledge of best practices in academic and career advising.
Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and administrative responsibilities.
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities, including mentoring, coaching, and a commitment to staff development.
Skilled in using data and technology to inform decision‑making and enhance service delivery.
Clear communicator in both written and verbal formats, capable of facilitating groups and delivering presentations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
People‑centered leader who values mentorship, data‑informed decision‑making, and building engaged, high‑performing teams in a mission‑driven environment.
Valid Florida driver’s license (not applicable for this position).
