Senior Estimator: Bid Strategy, Costing & Sourcing

Job Summary & Essential Functions: Prepare bids for customer requests by calculating bothmaterial and labor costs and evaluating the entire customer package. · Review specifications, drawings, verbal instructions, andinterpret for material and labor requirements · Formulate preliminary Bid/No-Bid recommendations · Develop material and labor requirements and enter into thebid system database · Solicit appropriate vendors for material pricing;negotiate prices as necessary · Combine labor and material estimates from vendors and/orinternal sources and prepare preliminary quotation · Review quotes for accuracy, possibly including quotes fromother department staff, and forward for further approval · Submit quotes of value up to the limits set by departmentmanual · Coordinate bid efforts with appropriate managers and otherdepartments when necessary · Adhere to General Requirements of Team Members · Perform other assignments as required · Responsible for the proper handling and management ofhazardous waste generated in their work area. Required Skills & Qualifications: · Demonstrated skill in reading and interpreting electricalschematics and specifications · Planning and organization skills—prioritization, resourceallocation, multi-tasking · Must have intermediate Microsoft Office skills, includinge-mail, Word, and Excel · Intermediate level with FoxPro and MRPII · Negotiation and conflict management skills · Analytical skills to prepare most competitive/profitableproposal · Excellent written and verbal skills · Thorough working knowledge of manufacturing processes andcapabilities; technical knowledge to understand cable fabrication · Detail-oriented and highly accurate · Abilities listed in General Requirements of Team Members Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications: · Associate’s degree or equivalent experience · 2-4 years progressive experience performing estimatingfunctions Equal Opportunity EmployerVeterans/Disabled
