Job Description
The Director of Play is responsible for managing the outside golf operation. The Director of Play will manage the outside golf operation in all areas including managing the bag room, cart fleet, practice areas, the hiring and training of staff, and creating a welcoming arrival and departure experience. The ideal candidate ideally is an entry level apprentice professional or pursuing a career in golf.
About the Club Hillwood Country Club is a member‑owned private club located in Nashville, Tennessee and was founded in 1953. The Dick Wilson designed course has hosted numerous championships including the Tennessee State Open (1963, 1966, 1971), Tennessee State Amateur (1975, 1982, 2004, 2020), The Tennessee Mid‑AM (1998), Tennessee Senior Amateur Championship (1986, 2001, 2013) and the National 2015 US Women’s Senior Amateur Championship. Hillwood will host the 2026 Mid‑Am this fall and is the future host site of the 2028 State Open, and the 20230 State Amateur. Hillwood prides itself on being a top club in Nashville that offers the highest quality amenities but also maintains its reputation as an inviting family atmosphere. Key Areas of Responsibility
Assisting the Outside Golf Operations in all areas of the operation
Creates a welcoming atmosphere is and is visible throughout the operation
Training and recruiting Outside Golf Staff
Training and recruiting the Caddies Staff
Covering the podium position daily
Managing the tee sheet and scheduling of caddie requests daily
Playing golf with the membership and their guests when needed
Assisting the Golf Professionals in the management of the junior golf program
Covering the Golf shop in the off season and times of need
Qualifications and Requirements
Entry Level PGA, LPGA, or apprentice member preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
