Technical Writer Applications Support

Under the direction of the Applications Engineering Manager, the Technical Writer Applications Support will work with the Applications Engineering team to assist in preparing small-scale proposals, developing technical documentation, and supporting the overall quoting process. This role will translate sales RFQs, engineering input, and internal standards into clear, accurate written materials. While this position does not require an engineering degree, strong technical aptitude and experience working with technical products, machinery, or manufacturing processes are essential. The Technical Writer Applications Support will draft customer-facing documents, update proposals, help maintain project files, and collaborate with vendors and internal teams to gather accurate information. This position also contributes to improving standard practices, templates, and documentation processes within the Applications department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist application leads and sales managers in organizing and maintaining the RFQ log for small-scale or standardized projects. Prepare and update smaller-scope proposals using standardized costing tools and reference materials. Draft, revise, and format technical content including proposals, scope documents, customer communications, and presentations. Work with engineering and applications team members to translate technical concepts into clear, accurate written documentation. Assist in gathering vendor information, including pricing, lead times, and product specifications for smaller components or sub-systems. Maintain consistency and clarity across departmental documentation, templates, and standard operating procedures. Support daily project documentation, release schedules, and communication of status updates to internal stakeholders. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and applications engineers as needed to ensure technical accuracy. Participate in developing and improving SOPs, workflow documentation, and best practices. Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, often with input from several stakeholders. Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy in written documentation. High level of accountability and follow-through in completing assigned tasks. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with willingness to be an engaged team member. Proficiency with MS Office tools. Ability to understand and interpret technical concepts, drawings, or specifications (experience reading engineering documentation is a plus). Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency. Education and/or Experience: Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and technical experience required. Experience in technical writing, quoting, documentation support, manufacturing, or machinery-related industries strongly preferred. Experience working with engineering teams, applications teams, or technical sales support is a plus.
