Our client, a privately held, growth-oriented manufacturing organization is adding an

Indirect Tax Manager

to its finance team. This role will take ownership of multi-state indirect tax compliance while helping modernize systems and processes in a dynamic operating environment. This is a high-impact opportunity for someone who enjoys both technical tax work and process improvement within a complex, multi-jurisdictional footprint. What You’ll Own Lead preparation and submission of sales & use, excise, fuel, and property tax filings across numerous states and localities Oversee exemption certificate management and ensure documentation integrity Perform account reconciliations related to indirect taxes and resolve discrepancies tied to the general ledger Analyze legislative updates and assess operational impact across the business Serve as the primary contact for state and local tax audits, inquiries, and information requests Track rate changes, regulatory updates, and evolving compliance requirements Support excise-related reporting and ensure accurate, timely submissions Enhance tax determination and compliance workflows using automation tools Collaborate cross-functionally with accounting, legal, sales, and operations to ensure tax considerations are properly embedded in contracts and transactions Assist with ERP tax configuration, system upgrades, and tax due diligence in acquisition scenarios What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline Strong hands-on experience with indirect tax compliance (sales/use, fuel, excise, property) Background working with tax technology platforms (Vertex experience highly preferred; exposure to Avalara or Sovos a plus) Familiarity with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Sage, or Microsoft Dynamics Advanced Excel capabilities with the ability to analyze and manipulate large data sets Ability to juggle competing deadlines in a fast-paced, operationally focused environment CPA or CMI designation is advantageous but not required Why This Role?
