Join Detroit Public Theatre (DPT) for a hands‑on, immersive Summer Marketing Internship , where you’ll gain real‑world experience in theatre marketing, branding, audience engagement, and digital content creation.
This internship is part of the Applebaum Internship Program , a collaborative initiative that brings together host organizations, professional supervisors, and student interns to provide meaningful, hands‑on learning experiences.
This internship offers the opportunity to work closely with the Marketing Assistant, developing and executing marketing strategies for DPT’s upcoming
Season 12
and brand awareness campaigns.
Ideal for students interested in arts marketing, digital media, PR, and audience development, this role provides practical experience in content creation, social media management, branding, and analytics within a dynamic regional theatre environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in external communications, including social media content creation, email newsletters, and website updates.
Support brand messaging initiatives by helping craft marketing materials, social media campaigns, and promotional outreach.
Create engaging visual and written content for DPT’s marketing platforms, including print and digital materials.
Collaborate with the Marketing Assistant to execute strategic marketing campaigns for
Season 12 .
Conduct market research and audience analysis to support data‑driven marketing strategies.
Participate in photo and video content creation, including capturing behind‑the‑scenes moments for promotional use.
Provide general support in graphic design, website management, and advertising coordination.
Minimum Skills & Qualifications
Strong writing and content creation skills for social media, web, and print.
Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Threads, YouTube).
Strong organizational and research skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) or Canva is a plus.
Familiarity with scheduling tools (MavSocial).
Interest in theatre, marketing, digital media, or communications.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Interest in theatre, marketing, digital media, or communications.
Familiarity with scheduling tools (MavSocial).
Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) or Canva is a plus.

This position offers a flexible schedule. There is a guaranteed minimum of 25 hours per week, with at least two days per week required in person.
Interns are required to attend
four mandatory Applebaum Internship Program Leadership Sessions , held in person every other week starting
June 11, 2026 .
Workplace This is a hybrid position, with a minimum of two days per week required in person. The workspace includes free and metered street parking, a kitchenette, and is fully accessible.
Compensation Interns will receive a
total stipend of $3,000
for the internship, paid in equal
biweekly installments
throughout the internship period.
Travel and Parking The theatre is located a few blocks from
QLine stops
and several bus routes. Please note that after
June 7 , there will be no dedicated staff parking lot available.
