Recreation Assistant

City of Kissimmee $16.39 Hourly Location: Kissimmee, FL Job Type: Part-Time Closing Date: Continuous Under regular supervision, performs responsible work by assisting in the supervision and planning of recreation classes and activities. Work is performed under the supervision of the Recreation & Leisure Services Supervisor and/or Recreation Specialist. Essential Functions: Assists in the supervision and planning of general recreation classes and activities. Implements activities according to schedule as well as prepares and implements lesson planning for each day of the program. Conducts programs in an orderly fashion maintaining discipline and good conduct from the participants. Greets participants and visitors and distributes accurate information regarding classes and activities. Assists in the organization of administrative records including but not limited to daily attendance, participant emergency information, accident reports and medication logs. Distributes accurate information regarding classes and activities. Maintains open and positive communication with staff. Assists in set-up and preparation of needed materials/supplies/equipment. Enforces rules and regulations to ensure safety of participants. Maintains neatness and cleanliness of activity areas. Administer basic first aid as needed. May perform facility maintenance, i.e. garbage disposal or custodial work. May be required to work events and rentals as needed. Performs related duties as required. Minimum Education and Training: Must be at least fifteen (15) years of age. Requires a middle school diploma supplemented by a combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High School graduate preferred. Must possess or have the ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire; CPR/AED/First Aid certifications. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License or Florida ID. Schedule: Hours and schedule varies depending on the time of the year, not to exceed on average of 28 hours per week. Nights, weekends and early mornings may be required.
