Assistant Director of Campus & Public Relations

The Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) is made up of every undergraduate student at the University of Nevada. ASUN provides a means for students to voice concerns and address issues at the university, local, state, national, and international levels.

ASUN is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Campus & Public Relations. To act as the Director of Campus and Public Relations in the Director's absence or at the Director's request.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Director to develop the departmental strategic plans and objectives.
  • Increasing the visibility of the Association in greater campus, local, state and national communities.
  • Producing multimedia-content to release weekly updates to the students about ASUN.
  • Updating and providing content for the ASUN website.
  • Ensuring that the association's multimedia-content and ASUN website are compliant with necessary accommodations set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Attending all ASUN retreats and trainings as decided by the Director of Campus and Public Relations and the Director of Executive Outreach.

Required qualifications include:

  • Enrollment at the University of Nevada, Reno.
  • Maintaining a 2.00 GPA and being enrolled in at least 7 credits.
  • Performing all duties and instructions outlined by the ASUN Governing Documents.
  • Upholding the Nevada Student Code of Conduct.
  • Meeting all deadlines, attending all required meetings and training, working scheduled hours, properly completing and submitting HR paperwork on time, assisting in the promotion of the mission of ASUN and Nevada, behaving in a manner that is ethical, maintaining a high level of integrity.
  • Other duties as called upon by the position.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience in fields such as marketing, journalism, communication studies, and/or related fields.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Motivation to further the goals and initiatives under the Impact Nevada platform.
  • Collaborating with the Center for Student Engagement and other campus departments.
  • Coordinating campus-wide surveys to undergraduate students.
  • Meeting consistently with student groups on campus.
  • Extending participation in and awareness of the Pack Friendly Business Program.
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse people and communities.
  • Excellent organization and project management skills in a team-based environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability within role; ability to time manage and prioritize tasks.

Compensation grade: Student Employee Level 1. $3,000 distributed evenly over a 12-month period in a single-term.

This ASUN Student Leader position is an appointed member of the student government. By applying for this position, you are considered a candidate for the position and must meet the requirements of eligibility for the office for which they are running as stated in the ASUN Constitution and the ASUN Statutes of the Associated Students. Applying for this position does not automatically employ you into this position and the candidate must partake in being interviewed by peers and to be appointed by the ASUN Senate to this position.
