Director of Interior Design

Director of Interior Design | Falmouth, Massachusetts We are hiring a Director of Interior Design to lead and grow a dynamic interior design practice within a highly collaborative architecture-driven studio environment. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned design leader who is equally comfortable shaping beautiful interiors, mentoring a team, and contributing to the broader business and vision of the firm. The ideal candidate brings a refined design sensibility and the leadership presence to guide both people and projects. You are smart, creative, balanced, and collaborative, someone who can inspire a team while also understanding the operational and business side of a design practice. In this role, you will shape the direction of the interior design department, ensure exceptional project execution, and help expand the firm’s presence through business development, prospecting, and relationship building. You’ll work closely with architectural leadership to create interiors that are seamlessly integrated with architecture and reflective of thoughtful, timeless design. Key Impact Areas Design Leadership Firm Leadership Team Leadership Business Development & Growth Operations & Project Oversight Qualifications 10+ years of professional interior design experience, ideally within architecture or multidisciplinary design studios Demonstrated leadership experience guiding teams and complex projects A strong portfolio reflecting refined, thoughtful interior environments The ability to balance creative excellence with business and operational awareness Confidence leading client conversations and presentations Experience with business development, prospecting, and closing new work Proficiency with design and business software Experience with Studio Designer is a plus Ability to work within Deltek-based systems and collaborate with architectural production tools Familiarity with architectural coordination and rendering platforms The Culture: The team environment is connected, motivating, innovative, collaborative, and engaging.
