The Town of Parker is seeking a part-time sports official to officiate various sports leagues including but not limited to baseball/softball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and/or flag football. Under general supervision, this position officiates various sports leagues including but are not limited to baseball/softball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and/or flag football. Examples of Essential Duties

Officiate assigned sporting events, games, or competitions with fairness and respect to all players and spectators to maintain standards of play and to enforce all game rules. Maintain a safe and fun environment for all involved during league play; promote positive sportsmanship. Judge performances in sporting competitions in order to award points, impose scoring penalties, and determine results. Arrive before the start of the scheduled event; start games on time. Conduct inspections of sporting equipment, participants, and field conditions to ensure compliance with event and safety regulations. Verify game scores with the onsite Sports Supervisor. Resolve claims of rule infractions or complaints by participants and assess any necessary penalties; report complaints made, and actions taken or needed to the Sports Coordinator(s). Perform disciplinary actions such as ejections for participants who violate the Town's Behavioral Policies; assist in writing incident reports for injuries and player behavior. Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, certification, and/or licensure required. An equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties and meet the necessary employment standards may be considered. Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age. Prior sports experience as a player, coach, instructor, and/or official is preferred. Concussion recognition training is required within ninety (90) days of hire and must be renewed annually. Knowledge of relevant town, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies. Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques used in recreational sporting events. Knowledge of the Town of Parker's adapted rules and regulations to each specific sport. Skill in verbal and written communication. Ability to execute and explain proper calls and rule judgment on command. Ability to accept and respond to criticism. Ability to manage conflict regularly and effectively. This includes managing participants, team captains, volunteer coaches, and spectators under difficult game situations. Ability to issue clear, concise, verbal and/or written instructions and reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, team participants, community organizations, and the public. Ability to work irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Additional Information

Requires close and distance vision acuity and the ability to adjust focus, allowing a broad field of vision. Employee must communicate clearly and effectively; must understand and be understood. Work is frequently performed outside in varying temperatures and conditions. The employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and hot and/or cold conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may range from moderate to extreme. The employee will occasionally encounter fumes, odors, dusts, or mists.
