Reports To: Youth CoordinatorStatus: Non-Exempt, Hourly, Regular, Full-timeBenefits: Benefits EligibleSalary: $18.00 - $22.00About Central Valley Empowerment AllianceEstablished in 2019, the Central Valley Empowerment Alliance (CVEA) is a grassroots community development organization serving rural farmworker communities in the counties of Madera, Fresno, Kings, Tulare and Kern in the Central Valley. CVEA applies Saul Alinskys grassroots community development organizing model of hundreds of one-on-one and house meetings. CVEA also holds fundamental beliefs that those most impacted are the experts. Centering meeting the community where they are at, with no judgment to lead its work. CVEA defines its own model of organizing as an expression of Radical Love.Position OverviewThe Community Organizer will work under the direction of the Youth Coordinator, designing, implementing and facilitating programming that has been developed for CVEA clients. Working directly with youth and their families, this role is responsible for organizing participants for the legal clinics and additional CVEA programming. Key ResponsibilitiesIn coordination with the Youth Organizer this role will facilitate leadership training to youth and their families, which include individual 1:1 meetings, house meetings, community events including cultural events. This position will also provide resources and referrals as needed to youth and their families within the scope of CVEA programmingThis position will hold meetings with the Director of Organizing & Programs, Youth Coordinator, and Youth Organizer for wrap around services triage.Working with the Rural Justice Coordinator this role will provide education and encourage youth participation around worker and immigrant rights and provide opportunities for families to attend RSE Legal Clinics as well as Know Your Rights sessions.QualificationsExperience working with farmworker communities as well as young peopleStrong organizational and multitasking skillsDemonstrated commitment to social justice, community and youth empowerment.Excellent communication and facilitation skillsExperience in community organizing, advocacy, or a related areaBilingual abilities strongly preferredWorking Conditions/Physical RequirementsLifting up to 15lbsProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer recblid jsko0wc98urzucublo46dtu87gnxax
