Allen Lund Company is seeking a dynamic Account Manager to develop and increase profitable volume with existing and newly acquired customers. What you'll do (your superpowers in action!): Account growth dynamo: Your primary responsibility is to develop and increase profitable volume with existing and newly acquired customers. You'll build strong relationships to understand their business and provide tailored solutions. You'll coordinate bidding off contract with value-added services and actively prospect for new shippers. Plus, you'll leverage all modes and services in the sales process! Customer service champion: Provide exceptional customer service internally and externally and maintain and increase ALC's image and reliability with customers. You'll also conduct regular business reviews with all existing accounts. Logistics & loading wizard: Have specific knowledge regarding product compatibility and shipping requirements for dry loads, and temperature requirements and maintenance when handling refrigerated loads. You'll determine optimal loading and delivery patterns and times using your creativity to minimize time and miles traveled, advising if a load is manageable. System savvy operator: Update active load information into the system for shipper and carrier tracking and update profile and insurance information. You'll also build loads, update/check calls, and schedule pickup and delivery appointments. Expect to update customer systems and communicate critical information. Financial & administrative guru: Review bills of lading for proper documentation and ensure quantities loaded and delivered match with no cargo damage. You'll communicate with brokers regarding any discrepancies found on bills of lading (i.e., shortages, damages) prior to settlement. Contact carriers to obtain delinquent proof of deliveries, balance files, complete file settlement, and forward paperwork to corporate accounting for payment. Process carrier and third-party invoices and work with carriers and factoring companies to resolve carrier A/P issues. You'll monitor uninvoiced files and track missing carrier invoices, and maintain a filing system for settled files. Accounts receivable ace: Handle all calls regarding accounts receivable, verify and input invoicing information for shippers. Run receivables reports weekly to check for invoicing errors, adjustments, and overdue freight invoices, and start the collections process as directed. You'll also work with operations employees to resolve any problems or disputes. After-hours hero: You'll make yourself available for after office hours contact throughout the night and/or weekends, using your specific knowledge acquired through experience to assist callers. You'll contact management if faced with issues outside of standard operating procedures. Skills & experience (your arsenal of awesome!): A self-motivated, enthusiastic team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Experience in Freight Brokerage/customer service is a huge plus!
