The Senior Director, Finance reports directly to the Vice President of Finance for PIH Health and is responsible for day to day oversight and direction of the accounting and financial management functions for PIH Health WhittierHospital (PHWH) and PIH Health Downey Hospital (PHDH). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general ledger accounting, budgeting and forecasting, financial / operational / regulatory reporting and research (internal and external), oversight and development of internal controls and procedures, accounts payable supervision, participation in the annual external financial statement audit, and various other financial and operational analyses

Ability to perform data analysis using statistical techniques and establish data accuracy and validity derived from a variety of systems.

Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and/or other database structures.

Fluent in GAAP and other not-for-profit accounting standards

Understanding of technical procedures and governmental regulations with ability to interpret

Ability to analyze financial data and report / discuss / present in an understandable way to all stakeholders

Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the Finance team and across the health system.

Engage with external stakeholders, including technology partners and academic institutions, to stay current on emerging trends and technologies.

Prepare and present reports to leadership and management, detailing project outcomes, insights, and recommendations.

Required Experience Required:

Strong understanding of financial statements and financial accounting concepts (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).

Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in accounting, business administration, or related major

Minimum of 10 years major public accounting work experience or progressive management experience as a controller or higher, preferably in the healthcare industry

Strong communication and leadership skills.

Strong computer skills and expertise in use of Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.

Thorough knowledge of large-scale integrated client server/ERP/budgeting and planning systems such as EPSi

Preferred:

Master’s degree with an emphasis in business, finance, or health care administration

Certification as a Certified Public Accountant

Master’s in Business Administration or Masters in Healthcare Administration

Understanding of non profit healthcare capital structure dynamics
