
Membership Representative 1

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Membership Director, this person is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to members, volunteers, and staff through face‑to‑face, email, and telephone contact, dispensing accurate and courteous membership and program information, and sale of both. The Member Relations Representative is responsible for connecting members to the YMCA of Greater Springfield and its mission by means of helping them reach fitness goals, participate in classes and programs, and become an advocate and integral part of the Y community.
Essential Functions
Build relationships with YMCA of Greater Springfield members.
Provide membership and program information through a complete knowledge of the current brochures/website in an accurate, friendly and courteous manner in person and on the telephone. Strive to meet the unique needs of the customer.
Process membership applications accurately and efficiently, completing all paperwork and data entry requirements.
Accurately process program registration, class enrollment, and receipting.
Assist with member recruitment by providing high‑quality tours and following up with new and prospective members.
Responsible for opening and closing shifts with balanced deposit and all paperwork completed.
Assist Director with reports, mailings, phone calls, and research as requested.
Inspect facility, including locker rooms, regularly to ensure safety and cleanliness.
Communicate with co‑workers to ensure a presence is maintained at the Welcome Center at all times.
Complete accident/incident forms as needed. Communicate incidents to the Director. Notify the Director of any emergency, accident, injury, or incident. Provide basic first aid as needed. First aid and CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
Take responsibility for assigned shifts, arranging coverage if unable to be on duty, with approval of the Membership Director.
Attend regular staff meetings as scheduled.
Present a professional manner through a neat and clean appearance. Dress code adherence is required.
Keep necessary forms, lobby and desk brochures, and all other materials in proper order and restock as necessary. Report to Supervisor if equipment/supplies need repair or replacement.
Fulfill office duties, such as filing, card processing, data entry, etc. as assigned, during slow periods.
Maintain a neat and orderly work area, including desk space, membership office, lobby and facility.
Present and uphold branch policies and demonstrate core values of the YMCA.
Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, determined by the department supervisor.
Must have good communication & customer service skills.
Must have CPR/AED & First Aid Certifications.
