Director of Learning & Capacity

to lead the design and delivery of high-impact learning experiences for nonprofit leaders across the Commonwealth. This position plays a central role in advancing KNN’s mission to strengthen, connect, and champion Kentucky’s nonprofit sector. Your work will directly support nonprofit leaders and organizations working to improve communities across the state. This role is ideal for someone who can translate sector needs into meaningful programs—and deliver them with excellence. You’ll shape trainings, convenings, and cohort-based programs that strengthen nonprofit leadership, improve organizational effectiveness, and advance impact across Kentucky.

This is a remote position based in Louisville.

What You’ll Do: Program Strategy & Design

Lead development of KNN’s statewide learning strategy and annual program calendar

Identify training and capacity-building needs across the nonprofit sector

Design workshops, webinars, cohort programs, and leadership initiatives

Program Delivery & Partnerships

Execute high-quality learning experiences (in-person and virtual)

Recruit and manage facilitators, speakers, and partners

Serve as host or facilitator when needed

Ensure programs are engaging, accessible, and relevant

Team Leadership & Collaboration

Supervise the Operations & Events Coordinator

Partner with internal teams to promote and deliver programs and resources

Represent KNN at events, trainings, and convenings across the state

Operations & Continuous Improvement

Oversee program logistics, timelines, and budgets

Track participation, outcomes, and feedback to strengthen future offerings

Maintain systems for registration, communications, and evaluation

Have led (not just supported) learning or professional development programs

Have a deep understanding of the needs of charitable nonprofits and their teams - from C-suite to front-line to volunteers

Can move between big-picture strategy and detailed execution

What You Bring

7+ years of nonprofit experience, preferably c-suite experience

Deep understanding of the training and development needs for nonprofit organizations, staff (from C-suite to frontline staff), and volunteers.

Experience designing and delivering training or professional development programs

Strong project management and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail

Ability to balance strategy and execution across multiple initiatives

Excellent relationship‑building and communication skills with diverse populations

Additional Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required (advanced degree preferred)

Willingness to travel statewide (25–30%)

Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office

Experience with CRM, webinar, or event platforms a plus
