POSITION OVERVIEW The Director of Network and Systems leads a skilled, high‑performing team responsible for the full lifecycle of LBLESD's network infrastructure, systems engineering, and web development and hosting. This role is built for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical leadership and people engagement and is equally energized by solving a complex infrastructure challenge and walking a district superintendent through one of our services.
The Director is the primary representative of the Network and Systems team to component districts, agency departments, vendors, and regional partners. They build lasting service relationships with district technology directors, lead client‑facing meetings and conferences, and deliver training and guidance that empowers non‑technical stakeholders across the agency. Inside the department, they set technical direction, mentor and develop their team, and lead by doing alongside the people they supervise.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
2. Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Network+, or similar are preferred.
3. Minimum of 8 years of experience in network management or network services, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
4. Experience with large‑scale network infrastructure management and vendor negotiations.
5. Strong leadership and management abilities, with experience leading network teams and projects.
6. In‑depth knowledge of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and cloud‑based network solutions.
7. Expertise in network security best practices and technologies.
8. Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
9. Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership, vendors, and internal teams.
10. Experience with network monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning.

Provide own transportation to numerous settings that may include occasional evenings and overnight stays for meetings or conferences based on departmental needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Strategic Leadership & Direction: Set and execute the strategic direction for network and systems infrastructure, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, scalability, and security needs.
Department Oversight: Manage daily operations of the Network and Systems team, overseeing project execution, service delivery, and system reliability.
Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and develop technical staff by promoting professional growth, team collaboration, and high standards of performance.
Policy Development & Compliance: Establish and enforce policies and procedures related to network performance, systems administration, and infrastructure security. Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Risk Management & Issue Resolution: Oversee infrastructure risk assessments and response strategies. Support the resolution of critical network or systems issues that impact service availability.
Cross‑Departmental Collaboration: Collaborate with IT, security, and software teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with enterprise goals and integrates effectively across systems.
Stakeholder & Vendor Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for infrastructure vendors and service providers. Manage contracts, vendor performance, and external support relationships.
Monitoring & Performance Evaluation: Track network and systems performance metrics, availability, and capacity. Use data to drive continuous service improvements and resource planning.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Stay informed on technology trends in networking and systems engineering. Lead efforts to modernize infrastructure and adopt innovative tools and practices.
Website & Digital Platform Management: Own the design, development, and hosting of LBLESD’s web platforms and district‑facing digital services. Maintain website reliability, security, and performance. Collaborate with departments and districts to support web‑related needs and continuously improve digital service delivery.
Reporting & Communication: Provide regular updates to senior leadership on infrastructure performance, risks, project status, and strategic priorities.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Salary and benefit information shown are based on full‑time employment (1.0 FTE) for the current school year. Placement on the Linn Benton Lincoln ESD Administrative salary schedule will be commensurate with applicant’s qualifications, relevant training, and experience.
Linn Benton Lincoln ESD will provide an Insurance CAP to assist with health, dental and vision insurance premiums.
