VMware vCloud Director Management

We are seeking a vendor or team to provide comprehensive management and operational support for the VMware vCloud Director environment.

This role is critical to ensuring the stability, performance, and security of a multi-tenant cloud platform.

The ideal partner will demonstrate expertise in tenancy models, multi-site resource management, automation, and infrastructure operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the three-tier tenancy model, including creation and administration of parent and sub-provider organizations.
  • Ensure secure isolation of virtual resources across tenants.
  • Oversee stretched data centers across multiple sites and geographies, providing unified resource monitoring and management.
  • Leverage automation tools and the open-source vCD Terraform Provider to automate infrastructure-as-code and UI-driven workflows.
  • Perform appliance management tasks such as timezone configuration, public address customization, orderly shutdown/startup of appliance clusters, and jumbo frame configuration.
  • Register NSX-T Manager instances and manage service engine groups.
  • Configure firewall rules and IP/MAC sets to ensure secure network operations.
  • Manage Virtual Trusted Platform Module (vTPM) devices to enhance VM security.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing VMware vCloud Director environments.
  • Strong understanding of multi-tenant cloud architecture and resource isolation.
  • Experience with automation tools including Terraform and vCD integrations.
  • Familiarity with NSX-T Manager, firewall configurations, and network resource management.
  • Hands-on experience with appliance lifecycle management and infrastructure readiness.
  • Knowledge of security enhancements including vTPM device management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with stretched data center environments and multi-site resource coordination.
  • Background in integrating vCloud Director with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring systems.
