Position Summary The Junior Designer supports the design and documentation of high-end residential projects under the direction of the firm's Principal, Executive Studio Director, and Project Managers. This role focuses on developing foundational architectural skills while contributing meaningfully to the firm's design process and project deliverables.

Working collaboratively within the studio, the Junior Designer assists with drawing production, design studies, research, and presentation materials. This position provides hands‑on experience in translating design concepts into clear architectural documentation while learning the technical and professional standards that define Cardello Architects' work.

The Junior Designer is expected to demonstrate curiosity, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. Through mentorship and collaboration, this role offers opportunities to develop both creative and technical skills within a studio environment focused on thoughtful, high‑quality residential design.

Design Coordination & Project Management

Assist project teams in developing design concepts, drawings, and presentation materials.

Support the preparation of architectural drawings and digital models during schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.

Conduct research on materials, precedents, codes, and zoning requirements.

Participate in internal design reviews and studio discussions.

Assist with preparation for client meetings and project presentations.

Technical Production & Documentation

Support the production of architectural drawings and models using Revit and AutoCAD.

Assist in preparing construction documents and drawing sets under the supervision of senior staff.

Incorporate redlines and revisions accurately and efficiently.

Utilize Morpholio and other digital tools for markups, sketches, and design coordination.

Help maintain organized project files and drawing standards.

Learning & Professional Development

Seek feedback and mentorship from senior staff to improve both design and technical skills.

Contribute to a collaborative studio environment through teamwork and open communication.

Participate in internal discussions, design critiques, and workflow improvements.

Qualifications Education & Experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.

0–3 years of professional experience in an architecture or design studio preferred.

Internship experience in residential architecture is a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Competencies

Working knowledge of Revit and/or AutoCAD.

Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite for presentations and graphic materials.

Interest in high‑end residential design and detailing.

Strong graphic, modeling, and visualization skills.

Ability to accept feedback and incorporate direction effectively.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Collaborative mindset and willingness to support the team.

Physical & Visual Requirements

Remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer or drafting table.

Move about the office and occasional job sites safely.

Use hands and fingers to operate computers and standard office equipment.

Visually interpret architectural drawings, models, and presentation materials.

Occasionally lift and transport drawings, models, or materials up to 25 pounds.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.

Clear written and verbal communication with project team members.

Mental Demands & Reasoning Abilities

Ability to learn quickly and apply feedback constructively.

Maintain attention to detail while working within deadlines.

Balance creative thinking with technical execution.

Work Environment

This is a 100% in‑person role, with remote work permitted only under exceptional circumstances (i.e., illness, inclement weather). The work week is 45 hours per week.

Work is primarily performed in an open, collaborative studio setting conducive to teamwork and creative exchange.

Occasional travel to project sites might occur.
