Job Description The Tool Designer is responsible for developing complete tooling designs based on customer requirements, internal specifications, and project direction. This role owns the design process from initial concept and layout through final 3D models and manufacturing release. The position is primarily CAD‑based and operates in a deadline‑driven environment with close collaboration across engineering and manufacturing teams. MUST HAVE 3D tool or injection mold design experience within manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Create complete tooling designs based on input from engineering leadership, project managers, or provided concept layouts
Develop tooling concepts from initial layouts through finalized 3D models and manufacturing‑ready documentation
Review customer specifications, standards, and scopes of work to ensure designs meet all requirements
Support design projects through completion, including revisions and updates as needed
Apply Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) principles throughout the design process
Produce accurate 2D drawings and 3D models in accordance with internal design standards
Maintain clear documentation of design decisions, revisions, and customer or internal communications
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of tooling design experience in one or more of the following areas: Plastic injection molds and dies, Aerospace tooling, Housewares or industrial tooling
Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar platforms
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and machining fundamentals
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team‑based engineering environment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel
Preferred Experience
Experience with Siemens NX / Unigraphics
Hands‑on exposure to machining or manufacturing environments
