Starwood Capital Group is one of the world’s leading real assets and alternatives investment firms. Founded in 1991 by Barry Sternlicht, the firm manages approximately $125 billion in assets across a global portfolio spanning residential, hospitality, office, retail, industrial, and energy infrastructure. With 20+ offices worldwide and investment strategies ranging from opportunistic equity to credit and data centers, Starwood has established itself as a major force in global real estate and alternative investments.
The Role
Starwood is at an inflection point in how it uses AI — not as a side experiment, but as a core part of how we manage investments, operate assets, and run the firm. We are seeking an AI enablement lead to support strategic AI initiatives, partner with business leads to integrate AI into the day-to-day, and drive adoption of AI workflows.
In this role, you will work directly with investment professionals, asset managers, and our operations teams to identify AI use cases, drive enterprise-level prioritization, and roll-out AI solutions across our teams. This role reports to the COO’s Office and will directly partner with our CTO, Data Science & Data Engineering, and Business Operations teams.
What You’ll Do
Use Case Identification:
Partner with team members across Acquisitions, Asset Management, Capital Markets, and Corporate Functions to understand existing workflows, identify automation opportunities, and drive enterprise-wide prioritization
Enterprise-wide prioritization : Partner with COO and CTO to drive enterprise-wide prioritization of AI initiatives quantifying ROI, technical feasibility and risk factors for each use case
AI tool roll-out:
Partner with Engineering and team-level AI leads to roll-out newly developed AI tools and frontier models across our business
Documentation:
Document use cases, user feedback, and best practices to support firm-wide AI adoption
What We’re Looking For
Currently enrolled in a graduate program (Computer Science, Data Science, MBA, MS in Finance, Real Estate, Business Analytics, or related field) or undergraduate program (Computer Science, Business, Economics, Information Technology, Data Science, or another related field)
2+ years of prior work experience in management consulting, product strategy, product management, data science or investment banking / private equity (open to undergraduates with strong internship experience as well)
Hands‑on proficiency with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, automation platforms)
Strong interest in real estate, finance, or private equity—prior experience in these areas is a plus but not required
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, open‑minded approach
Comfortable working with colleagues at all levels, from junior team members to senior executives
Available to work on‑site in our New York offices
Why This Role
Set AI Strategy with senior leadership.
The role sits in the COO’s Office and partners directly with our CTO and Business Operations teams
Work on problems that matter.
Starwood’s investment teams sit on decades of proprietary deal flow and asset data. The AI use cases here are complex, high‑stakes, and largely unsolved
See how a leading alternative asset manager operates.
You’ll work across Acquisitions, Asset Management, Capital Markets, and Corporate Functions — exposure to the full investment lifecycle that most people spend years trying to access
Potential pathway to full‑time employment
with the firm
