POSITION SUMMARY Reports to: Director of Sales
This position offers a fully remote option for candidates based in the New York, Boston, or Philadelphia areas, and a hybrid option for those based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
Destination DC is seeking a results-driven Convention Sales Manager to lead business development efforts across the East Region.
In this role, you will create momentum through disciplined prospecting and strategic networking rather than waiting for leads to arrive. As a proven closer with a track record of converting opportunities into signed business, you will serve as a territory expert, managing a complex region by prioritizing accounts that drive maximum value for our destination. You will take full ownership of your territory, focusing on the corporate, association, and pharmaceutical sectors to secure large group hotel bookings and small-to-mid-size convention center programs that drive significant economic impact.
Above all, you are a passionate DC Ambassador, capable of authentically selling the District's unique offerings across diverse market segments to position Washington, DC as a premier global destination.
Your Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following, but are not limited to:
Generate new business by prospecting and securing large group hotel and convention center opportunities within assigned markets
Manage a defined portfolio of corporate, association, and pharmaceutical accounts through active engagement with key decision-makers to develop new opportunities
Develop and present customized proposals for convention center meetings by interpreting RFP requirements and aligning space and hotel partners to position Washington, DC competitively
Lead site inspections and client experiences that position Washington, DC as a preferred destination
Align qualified opportunities with appropriate hotel partners based on client requirements
Serve as a destination expert, leveraging market knowledge to help hotel partners secure group business
Travel within the East Region to conduct sales calls and maintain a strong presence in assigned markets, and nationally to attend trade shows and represent Destination DC
Maintain accurate pipeline and booking data within the CRM system
Maintain knowledge of Washington, DC's hotels, convention center, venues, and destination offerings, along with industry trends and competitive destinations
Collaborate with internal teams and partners to support a seamless client experience
Perform other duties as assigned
What Do You Bring: Experience, Competencies & Skills:
Minimum four (4) years of experience in destination or hospitality sales , or related field.
Proven ability to prospect, build relationships, and drive results in a sales environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage a high-volume account portfolio.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM software.
Willingness and ability to travel and work evenings and weekends.
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S) from a four -year college or university in management, sales, marketing, or related field preferred.

Annual Room Nights and Leads goals as determined by Sales leadership.
Periodic performance evaluations gauging quantitative and qualitative performance against identified goals.
