Job Description KELOLAND News, the CBS affiliate in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is seeking a Digital Content Manager to lead our team on all digital platforms. You'll coach and empower a high‑performing digital team and use analytics to make informed decisions that grow loyal, local audiences. The ideal candidate is both a strategist and a hands‑on editor who thrives in breaking news situations. This manager will also ensure our digital experiences reflect KELOLAND's commitment to trusted, local journalism.

The Digital Content Manager will report to the News Director and will supervise a team of digital content producers and reporters who gather news for both broadcast and digital media. You will also work regularly with corporate digital managers on local and group projects, and conduct training and metrics meetings.

We are looking for someone who is an audience expert and understands how to grow distribution platforms to maximize readership. The ideal candidate can work across multiple platforms and jump into the mix to create high‑performing content as needed.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

Attends local editorial meetings and serves as a bridge between broadcast and digital in the local newsroom.

Trains and coaches a team of local digital journalists.

Writes engaging headlines that increase page views and packages content that grows page views per visitor, video‑on‑demand metrics, and time on site.

Works with digital reporters and site producers to ensure a steady stream of interesting content is packaged interactively and promoted to generate interest.

Evaluates traffic trends to make decisions on both daily content and longer‑term content development that will grow traffic.

Leads team members responsible for planning and implementing special coverage projects (severe weather, breaking news, elections, enterprise original digital content).

Monitors major news websites, local and state news websites, blogs, and social media for breaking news and trending topics.

Promotes news content on social media.

Meets big KPIs and ensures the team meets their role‑specific KPIs.

Ensures the local team meets daily deadlines.

Creates a positive work environment.

Track record of training journalists who prove to be successful.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of SEO best practices and AP Style.

Organized, technical problem solver and quick decision‑maker.

Enjoys working in teams and has excellent interpersonal skills.

Is comfortable with, and able to learn new technology independently and quickly.

Can take direction and quickly implement new ideas.Is comfortable adapting to changes in an evolving industry and thrives under pressure.

Self‑motivated, competitive spirit and assertive personality with the ability to balance multiple competing projects and priorities.

Schedule flexibility (nights, weekends).

Strong understanding of web analytics; Google Analytics, Chartbeat experience a plus.

Proficiency in MS Office is a must; HTML, CSS, OBS systems, and Photoshop experience a plus.
