Overview
The International was founded in 1901 in Bolton, Massachusetts. Located 45 minutes west of Boston, it is a spectacular piece of property featuring 36 holes of golf. The Oaks course was designed by Tom Fazio and more recently underwent renovations by Tripp Davis in 2021. The Pines course, originally designed by Geoffrey Cornish and Francis Ouimet in the mid‑50s, underwent a complete transformation beginning in 2022. The world‑renowned design team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw have resurrected a masterpiece. The Pines reopened in June 2025 and has already received runner‑up honors for Best Transformation golf course by Golf Digest. Our members and guests enjoy a true golf experience and personalized service. Position Overview This position is perfect for a PGA Professional or PGM Associate who is passionate about working at an aspiring Top 100 Golf Club. We are seeking a dependable and detail‑oriented individual who wants to be a PGA First Assistant Professional soon and is interested in learning how to accomplish that goal. Your experience on the Golf Professional Team at The International will prove to be extremely well‑rounded. Your daily tasks will include every aspect of the Golf Operation – Merchandising, Outside Operations, Tournament Operations, Teaching, Member Relations, and team building with fellow staff members. You will also be given insight as to how the Golf Operation, Food and Beverage, and Golf Maintenance departments work together and communicate daily to foster an environment that performs at an elite level and provides world‑class experience to members and guests. Director of Golf Paul Celano bears more than 45 years experience as a PGA professional and takes pride in mentoring and guiding his counterparts on successful career paths.
The expected season for the Seasonal Assistant Golf Professional is from May 1st through October 31st. Flexibility in schedule may be possible to accommodate transitions from winter employment.
Experience Required
Class A PGA Professional or PGM Associate in good standing
Knowledge of Golf Genius is helpful
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and point‑of‑sale systems
Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational ability
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Ability to work as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment
Has a multi‑faceted mindset and wants to learn all aspects of the golf operation
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and peak club event days as needed
Appropriate golf playing ability
Essential Responsibilities
Supports the Director of Golf, Head Golf Professional, and First Assistant Golf Professional in all aspects of the Golf Operation. Communication among the Golf Professional Staff is imperative
Helps to manage inventory and ensure that the Golf Shop is properly stocked and presentable daily
Ability to instruct individual lessons and clinics
Ensures that the golf shop and its surrounding areas are clean and organized
Assists with planning, budgeting, and execution of golf tournaments
Greets members and guests with an excited and warm personality and is consistent with their member and guest interactions
Diligent with tee time bookings and ensures that tee time reservations are communicated effectively to the membership
Ensures that the outside operation is running smoothly and offers support to the outside operation when needed
Constantly wanting to learn and ask questions to help improve their abilities as a professional
Playing with members and improving their experience on the golf course as you do so
Presents new ideas and isn't afraid to provide input on how the golf operation may be able to improve
