Role Overview We are seeking a Footwear Materials Designer to support capability building projects. This role involves working with the Kids & Color & Materials Design teams. The ideal candidate will focus on designing for the consumer, who values quality and long‑term use over trends, and will be instrumental in driving value through material selection.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop materials for footwear with a focus on Kids (grade school, preschool) and business lines.
Manage materials cost margins to drive value at lower price points.
Utilize storytelling skills to connect with the consumer through material choices.
Collaborate with design partners to integrate materials into the overall product vision.
Leverage design software to create and visualize material applications.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of two years of experience in Footwear Materials Design.
Must provide a portfolio for consideration.
Skills
Demonstrated experience with Kids business segments.
Understanding of material cost margins and value engineering.
Proficiency in storytelling as it relates to consumer‑focused design.
Familiarity with the design process and collaboration with cross‑functional partners.
Technical Skills
Proficiency with design software such as CLO, Viscom, Adobe suite, and CAD.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of seasonal product development gates and experience setting up product/materials numbers.
Experience with both genuine and synthetic leathers, including the ability to identify and understand their differences.
Previous experience in the footwear industry is an advantage.
Compensation & Benefits A competitive pay rate is offered for this contract position. The anticipated pay range is between $35.00 and $42.66 per hour.
