Purpose & Scope The Sourcing Manager – Real World Evidence (RWE) & Development Services is responsible for leading end to end sourcing and contracting activities across RWE generation and selected Development services. The role acts as a key execution partner to Category Managers and business stakeholders, translating study and program needs into compliant sourcing strategies while driving value, speed, and supplier performance across Medical Affairs and Development portfolios.
Role And Responsibilities Strategic Sourcing & Execution
Lead sourcing activities from intake through supplier award for RWE and Development services, including RFIs, RFPs, bid evaluations, negotiations, and award justification.
Execute sourcing strategies aligned to category direction across RWE (e.g., observational studies, registries, data acquisition) and Development services (e.g., CRO support, functional services, specialty vendors).
Partner with Category Managers to ensure sourcing decisions align with broader portfolio and supplier strategies.
Stakeholder Partnership
Serve as the primary procurement contact for assigned RWE studies and Development programs, working closely with Medical Affairs, Development, Clinical Operations, and Finance.
Support study teams in defining scopes, timelines, and assumptions to enable effective sourcing and contracting outcomes.
Provide guidance to stakeholders on preferred suppliers, contracting pathways, and sourcing best practices.
Supplier Selection & Performance
Support supplier segmentation and selection across preferred, niche, and emerging vendors.
Contribute to supplier governance by monitoring performance, identifying risks, and escalating issues to Category or Relationship Managers as appropriate.
Capture lessons learned from sourcing events to inform future category and supplier strategies.
Commercial & Financial Management
Drive commercial value through competitive sourcing, rate negotiations, cost transparency, and alignment to budget expectations.
Support contract development and execution in partnership with Legal and Contracting teams, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Track sourcing outcomes, savings, and value delivery for assigned activities.
Cross Category & Development Crossover
Apply sourcing experience across both RWE and Development services, supporting cross functional initiatives and hybrid programs that span Medical Affairs and Development.
Demonstrate flexibility to support adjacent service categories as business needs evolve.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience required (Business, Supply Chain, Life Sciences, or related field)
Experience
4–8+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or category support roles.
Experience supporting RWE, Medical Affairs, or clinical Development services in a regulated environment.
Demonstrated ability to work across multiple categories or service areas.
Core Skills
Strategic sourcing and RFx management.
Commercial negotiation and contract support.
Cross functional stakeholder engagement.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Ability to operate effectively in a global, matrixed organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in Development and Medical Affairs.

This position is based in Northbrook, Illinois. Remote work from anywhere in the US is available.

Salary Range $125,090 - $178,700 (Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and organizational equity considerations)
