
Marketing Specialist

Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Director of Public Affairs, this role performs entry‑to‑mid level tasks in support of marketing, branding, engagement, and advertising for the City of Boynton Beach. It also provides general, administrative assistance in all Public Affairs activities as assigned, and attends selected weekend or after‑hours events to capture and create content.
This is not a remote position.
Essential Functions
Coordinate public communications (postcards, press releases, letters, presentations, videos, social media, newsletters, etc.).
Assist with the implementation of marketing campaigns.
Perform administrative duties and compile data for special projects or reports, meeting deadlines and outlined goals.
Provide general support to the Director in fulfilling the City’s communication and marketing plans.
Support staff with media relations activities, including message development, outreach, response, meetings, programs, events, and educational campaigns consistent with the City’s branding.
Work closely with staff on departmental programs, nonprofit organizations, civic groups, educational entities, and special projects.
Use social, digital, and other channels to engage external audiences.
Create graphic designs for the City.
Assist with preparation, layout, printing, and dissemination of marketing materials.
Prepare, process, and maintain various records and forms (attendance, payroll, travel, training, work orders, service requests).
Observe and learn from Marketing, Communications, and Public Affairs professionals through meetings, training sessions, and process walk‑throughs.
Provide general customer service and respond to routine Public Affairs inquiries from employees or departments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Social Media Management, or Public Information, and a valid State of Florida driver’s license (obtainable within fourteen (14) days of hire).

Associate’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Social Media Management, or Public Information, and a valid State of Florida driver’s license (obtainable within fourteen (14) days of hire).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in public sector or government communications.
Supplemental Information Effectively communicates with supervisors, employees, contractors, vendors, outside agencies, the public, and others to coordinate work activities, review status, exchange information, or resolve problems. Accurately and expeditiously receives and delivers messages and information. Skilled in writing, designing, and producing publications.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant software.
Physical and Sensory Requirements Physical: Light sedentary work, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds. May involve extended keyboard or workstation use.
Sensory: Must perceive visual cues or signals and communicate orally.
Environmental Factors Functions performed in usual office conditions with rare exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
