The Team:

Mattel Game Studios harnesses the power of Mattel’s iconic brands and IP to create engaging digital games. The team builds a portfolio of free‑to‑play mobile games, apps, and creator platform experiences that bring beloved Mattel franchises to life.

The Opportunity:

As Senior Director of Growth, you will lead the strategic vision and execution of growth marketing across Mattel Game Studios’ portfolio, overseeing a $100M+ annual marketing budget and building a world‑class growth organization.

Responsibilities:

Serve as the growth marketing leader at the executive table, presenting strategy, performance, and recommendations to Mattel Executives.

Translate complex growth performance into clear business narratives that drive strategic decision‑making and secure investment.

Define the multi‑year growth vision for the portfolio, balancing short‑term performance targets with long‑term brand equity and franchise development.

Partner with Finance and Analytics leadership to establish growth targets, success frameworks, and measurement standards across the portfolio.

Own strategic allocation of the $100M+ annual marketing budget across titles, platforms, growth stages, and marketing types.

Establish portfolio‑level investment frameworks that balance user acquisition, retention marketing, brand building, and innovation.

Make high‑stakes decisions on marketing investment at different game lifecycle stages (soft launch, global launch, live operations, sunset).

Review and approve major campaign investments, partnership deals, and strategic initiatives proposed by growth leads.

Conduct quarterly business reviews with leadership to assess performance, reallocate resources, and adjust strategy based on portfolio dynamics.

Manage and scale a high‑performing growth marketing organization including User Acquisition, Analytics, and Creative functions.

Establish team structure, roles, responsibilities, and headcount planning aligned with portfolio growth and business objectives.

Develop talent through mentorship, coaching, and career development while building a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation.

Define operational frameworks, decision rights, and processes that enable the team to execute efficiently and make data‑driven decisions at speed.

Serve as primary liaison between Mattel Game Studios and Mattel’s corporate Brand organization, ensuring alignment on strategy, brand guidelines, and integrated campaigns.

Partner with Product, Studio, and Franchise leads to align growth strategy with game development roadmaps and brand tentpole moments.

Collaborate with Finance to develop business cases for new title launches, expansion into new platforms, and major marketing investments.

Work with Analytics and Data Science to set measurement frameworks, establish success metrics, and drive portfolio‑level insights.

Identify emerging opportunities in channels, platforms, partnerships, and marketing technology that could drive competitive advantage.

Cultivate relationships with key platform partners (Applovin, Google, Meta, TikTok) and agency partners to secure strategic opportunities.

Stay ahead of industry trends in mobile gaming, privacy, measurement, and marketing technology to guide team strategy.

Qualifications:

15+ years in growth marketing, performance marketing, or brand marketing with 10+ years in mobile gaming.

7–10+ years managing senior leaders (Sr Manager and above), building teams from the ground up and scaling organizations through growth phases.

Proven track record presenting to and influencing C‑suite executives, board members, and senior stakeholders across large organizations.

Demonstrated success managing $75M+ annual marketing budgets with accountability for portfolio‑level ROI and business outcomes.

Deep understanding of mobile game economics, LTV modeling, cohort analysis, and unit economics at the portfolio level.

Experience developing business cases, conducting scenario planning, and making data‑informed investment decisions.

Strategic thinking that balances performance marketing, brand building, and long‑term franchise development.

Experience working with major consumer brands or licensed IP, navigating corporate marketing partnerships and brand stewardship.

Track record partnering with product, finance, analytics, creative, and corporate marketing teams to drive aligned business outcomes.

Exceptional communication and storytelling skills with ability to translate complex performance into executive‑ready strategic narratives.

Deep knowledge of mobile gaming landscape, competitive dynamics, and player acquisition/retention best practices across F2P titles.

Current understanding of privacy‑first measurement (SKAdNetwork, Privacy Sandbox), attribution methodologies, and marketing technology evolution.

Experience across game lifecycle stages from soft launch through live operations, with multiple successful game launches.

Established relationships with platform partners, agencies, and industry leaders.

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.

Strategic leader who sets vision while empowering teams to execute.

Passion for gaming and appreciation for Mattel’s beloved brands.

Executive presence with ability to command the room while building collaborative partnerships.

Preferred: Experience at major entertainment or toy companies (Disney, Universal, Warner Bros., Hasbro, LEGO) marketing licensed IP.

Background in both performance and brand marketing, with ability to bridge direct response and brand equity building.

Track record building marketing organizations from early stage through scale.

Multi‑platform experience (mobile, PC, console) or experience in family‑oriented entertainment.
