Internship Title: Social Media & Advocacy Intern (3 positions open)

Term: Summer 2026

Hours: 8–10 hours per week (flexible to meet academic requirements)

Educational Purpose This internship is a learning‑centered experience exploring the intersection of psychology, wellness advocacy, and multimedia production.

The goal is to provide structured training and mentorship that supports the intern’s academic development.

The experience emphasizes skill‑building and supervised practice rather than fulfilling essential business operations.

Learning Objectives

Apply psychological and wellness concepts to advocacy‑focused digital messaging.

Analyze the production lifecycle of a mission‑driven podcast, from research to distribution.

Develop outreach strategies that connect community members with wellness resources (e.g., The Response Blueprint workbook).

Demonstrate ethical and trauma‑informed storytelling practices in audio and visual formats.

Evaluate digital content effectiveness using analytics and reflective analysis.

Understand ethical boundaries and professional responsibilities in online wellness spaces.

Guided Training & Observation

Wellness advocacy principles and ethical digital communication.

Reviewing previously published content and discussing real‑world decision‑making.

Podcast Production: Observing the technical and creative steps of producing “Unmuted: The M‑Powerment Podcast.”

Supervised Practice & Skill Development

Podcast Support: Researching guests and drafting interview questions that align with trauma‑informed principles; drafting “show notes” and audio summaries.

Book Promotion: Drafting educational social media assets (Canva carousels, Reels) based on concepts from The Response Blueprint to practice clinical‑to‑public translation.

Community Outreach: Researching Middle Georgia community organizations or academic groups for potential advocacy partnerships.

Weekly 1:1 check‑ins with Mary Melody Marquez.

Reflective journaling connecting academic theory (Psychology/Marketing) to professional practice.

Evaluation & Feedback

Student learning will be assessed through ongoing supervisor feedback, completion of learning objectives, reflection discussions, and a final evaluation as required by the academic institution.

Qualifications

Current undergraduate student in Psychology, Social Work, Communications, Marketing, or related field.

Interest in mental health advocacy and multimedia storytelling.

Strong written communication skills and familiarity with Canva.

Organized, self‑motivated, and able to work independently.

Must be based in the Middle Georgia area (Macon, Warner Robins, etc.).

Academic Alignment This internship is appropriate for students studying:

Psychology / Social Work

Communications / Marketing

Human Services / Related behavioral or social science disciplines

The experience is designed to meet common experiential learning, practicum, or internship requirements, pending school approval.

Confidentiality & Ethics Interns will receive training on confidentiality standards and ethical boundaries in wellness‑related content. Interns will not provide counseling, diagnosis, or clinical services.
