Technology Strategy Senior Associate
As a member of Grant Thornton’s AI, Data and Technology Practice, you will provide strategic advisory services to address business challenges across client technology organizations. You will be empowered by the larger Technology Strategy team to advise clients on strategic initiatives that help them achieve their vision.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
Possess a working knowledge of commercial or large non‑profit organizations from an organizational, operating model, process, and technology perspective.
Stay up to date on technology trends and solutions to address the issues facing companies and large non‑profits.
Assist practice leaders and business development executives with proposal development and presentations; identify, quantify, and scope new opportunities for Grant Thornton.
Perform strategic assessments of client technology environments against best practices and widely accepted maturity model frameworks.
Develop thoughtful, value‑add recommendations and roadmaps that meet client needs.
Execute projects related to technology strategy service offerings such as application portfolio strategy, enterprise IT strategy, technology architecture & cloud, and technology operations design.
Utilize first‑principles thinking and create custom frameworks and methodologies to solve challenging problems.
Analyze complex quantitative and qualitative data and synthesize output.
Communicate effectively to senior audiences, delivering difficult messages with persuasiveness and sensitivity.
Drive the development of business cases—including financial, quantitative, and qualitative data—to support strategic business initiatives, process improvements, or IT transformations.
Build and analyze financial models and complex budgets.
Coach and develop team members.
Demonstrate executive presence as a trusted advisor to C‑suite level clients.
Contribute to the development of practice thought leadership and service offerings.
Other duties as assigned.
Technical Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Computer Science, or related field (MBA or MIS preferred).
Minimum 2+ years of related work experience in strategy consulting, preferably with technology engagements.
Industry experience in Manufacturing, Services, Healthcare (providers), Banking, Private Equity, or large non‑profits (including higher education) is a plus.
Excellent business writing and communication skills.
Experience in assessing IT organizations, aligning strategy, cost structure, and operating model.
Experience in application portfolio strategy—including package selection, implementation planning, and application architecture model development.
Experience with strategic IT assessments, enterprise cloud assessments, and roadmap development.
Can travel as needed; expected travel up to 40%.
Consistent with the firm’s hybrid work model, requires in‑person attendance at least three days per week, either at a Grant Thornton office or client site.
Salary Range Los Angeles, CA:
$112,300 – $168,500
San Francisco, CA:
$119,600 – $179,400
