Position Title
4093‑Instructional Designer, Training Curriculum Dev
Pay Rate $70
Contract Duration 8‑month contract
Description Only submit candidates local to the Bay Area / work location. Assignment is hybrid: 80% remote and 20% on‑site for milestone meetings and course pilot delivery (Livermore site). A laptop will be provided. Any additional equipment needed will be provided by the supplier. Personal cell phone will be used for calls or MS Teams (no cell phone expense). With manager prior approval mileage, lodging and meals may be expensed for overnight travel if required per GSA.GOV.

Instructional design experience (hands‑on, technical training and instructor‑led course design, NOT e‑learning development)
Any utility industry, PGE or Mosaic experience
Microsoft office publishing and excellent writing skills

Microsoft® suite expertise (PPT, Word, Teams, etc.)
Author‑IT
Questionmark (or other authoring tools, LMS, and assessment tool familiarity)

Role: Contract Instructional Designer 2026 Responsibilities:
Design and develop instructor‑led and on‑the‑job training for apprenticeships in the electric transmission and substation group
Develop learning materials for technical content, including hands‑on practice activities, student guides, facilitator guides, scenarios, job aids, assessments, simulations, and other instructional media
Perform a detailed task analysis for each job function, business process, or system for which training will be developed
Define learning objectives and course structure aligned to stakeholder needs and to meet the constraints of the learning environment
Work under the direction of the Senior Instructional Designer to apply company standards, guidelines, and templates
Participate in milestone meetings with subject matter experts, including task analysis, alpha, beta, train‑the‑trainer, and pilot
Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation
Available during office hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (PST) Monday‑Friday
Required Skills
Experience developing instructor‑led training for technical skills such as electrical utilities or related industries
Bachelor’s degree or certification in instructional design or education related areas of study
Skilled in instructional design methodologies and technical writing
Experienced in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams
Self‑manage assigned tasks and deadlines to complete deliverables on time
Work closely with team and subject matter experts to proactively communicate concerns, issues, and risks
Desired Skills
Experience with QuestionMark, Author‑It, and/or Articulate 360
Previous teaching experience
Previous PG&E Academy experience
Location Livermore, CA (primarily remote).
Quarterly travel required to PG&E locations
Occasional overnight stays may be necessary to support client meetings and project milestones
