
Digital Media Generalist Intern

Position Summary And Qualifications
NOTE: This is a part‑time, temporary internship during the summer of 2026 only.
Part‑time, temporary internship intended to provide hands‑on experience and skills development in digital media, communications, and conservation education within a local environmental educational facility.
This internship is part of FPUA’s structured Internship Program, which includes coordinated professional development activities, facility tours, and cohort‑based engagement designed to provide exposure to the full scope of utility operations, including community engagement such as the Manatee Center. It also includes completion of defined project deliverables provided at the start of the program. The intern reports to the Manatee Center Program Coordinator and participates in program activities coordinated by the Internship Program Lead. The internship program will be available annually during the summer months, May through August.
NOTE: There are also secondary functions, which the employee will be required to perform.
Responsibilities
Create engaging short‑form videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, YouTube Shorts, and product photos for the online webstore.
Assist with filming, editing, captions, and basic transitions.
Capture behind‑the‑scenes moments, educational clips, events, and conservation stories.
Assist with scheduling approved social media posts and monitoring engagement (likes, comments, shares) under staff guidance.
Learn how to review engagement metrics such as views, reach, saves, and shares; and help identify which content performs best.
Assist with posting products for the webstore, event announcements, and educational updates as requested.
Help draft content for newsletters and digital announcements.
Participate in creative brainstorming sessions, sharing creative ideas and content concepts.
Monitor TikTok and short‑form video trends, and recommend ideas that align trends with conservation and education messaging.
Participate in FPUA Internship Program activities, including facility tours, workshops, and professional development sessions.
Collaborate with fellow interns on assigned group activities or special projects, as applicable.
Represent the organization in a professional manner during internal and external internship‑related events.
Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited source. Candidates pursuing or intending to pursue higher education, technical training, or a career pathway related to the internship area are encouraged to apply. Demonstrated interest in professional growth through coursework, projects, employment, or extracurricular involvement is preferred. Entry‑level experience creating digital content, including photography and short‑form video, is required. Basic experience using video editing or graphic design tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva, or similar platforms is preferred. Experience publishing social media and email content is desired.

Basic video editing skills using tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, Canva, or similar platforms, and familiarity with basic audio recording equipment.
Strong written communication for content creation.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to learn and accept feedback in a professional environment.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office or relevant digital tools.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to organizational policies.
