Communications & Social Media Coordinator, UNLV Research Administration
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for the Communications & Social Media Coordinator role within the Division of Research. The position reports to the Associate Director of Research Engagement.
Responsibilities
Produce, edit, and distribute content and marketing materials across multiple platforms and mediums to support the Division of Research’s brand, visibility, and messaging.
Develop and execute internal and external communications initiatives that promote and increase awareness of the UNLV Division of Research.
Manage the Division's social media activities, including content production, scheduling, and audience engagement.
Research and compile content, draft and edit digital materials, and publish approved videos, photos, graphics, and written content across established, new, and emerging platforms while maintaining brand consistency and adhering to guidelines.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, faculty, staff, and external partners to ensure consistent messaging.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.
Strong understanding of social media fundamentals and major platforms (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn).
Working knowledge of multimedia editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Express, Canva, and related technologies.
Solid understanding of communications and marketing principles, current trends, and best practices in digital media strategies.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational, time‑management, and multitasking abilities.
Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
Capability to learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and processes.
Ability to collaborate effectively, work independently with minimal supervision, and respond professionally to changing priorities.
Ability to capture photographs and video content for digital communications.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
1‑3 years of experience in a communications or marketing position.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education communications.
Graphic design, website design, and video editing skills.
